I just got myself a new ZX-6R with 0.9 miles on it. While the Kawi manual says to ride it gently for 1000 miles to break in the engine, there are a lot of articles on the interwebs that say to "ride it hard". More specifically, ride it hard at the track for 20 miles, change the oil, ride for 30 more miles, change the oil, and do this several more times. After hitting 1000 miles, switch to synthetic oil and you'll be fine.
However, I wanted to ask the MRA community if they had any tips for anything to do (or to avoid) when breaking in a new engine.
Thanks!
