I have received permission from Steven's wife to post the following.
Steve has sustained a rather serious head injury and a collapsed lung, the lung has been repaired and he is on a respirator as a precaution due to the lung injury. It is assumed that he can and will breathe on his own when the respirator is removed. He has bruising of the brain but only a small amount of bleeding in the brain. He opened his eyes this morning but has not regained full consciousness when the sedation meds are lowered. He has no broken bones or other apparent injuries. He responds to pain stimulation which is a good sign. At this point his condition is not considered life threatening but it is too early to assess the level of the injury to his brain and how quickly he will recover.
Please keep him in your thoughts along with Bob, I will post more when I know.
