Can I cut the cat out

I have a 09 zx6 with the stock pipes and the catalytic converter is in the lower part of the headers where they all meet. My question is if I drill out the cat will it mess with the bike's power??? It gets so hot that it's reforming my lower. I want to drill it out but I don't have the funds for a power commander. Just wondering if anyone knew. Most appreciated

drilling it out will decrease flow. they are honey comb cats, so it really doesnt hurt the flow of the exhaust. aftermarket exhausts usually are tucked closer to the motor to prevent burning lowers.
you can always buy heat reflective tape and tape the inside of your lower where it is close to the pipes.
