    Hotel in Byers?

Wife is making the trip out with me this weekend, and I don't think she'll like sleeping in a 12' box trailer w/zero amenities. I've looked into renting an RV for the weekend ($90-120 a day) and also looked into staying in Byers, or eastern Denver near DIA.... Online, the reviews on the Byers hotel are horrible, and talked to a couple folks at the school weekend who didn't have many positive comments about it. I'd rather drive the 30 miles than listen to my wife gripe for 3 days I'd really like to get/rent an RV to stay at the track for the weekend, but haven't had much luck..... So any input on overnight options?

I stayed at the hotel during the school and during the races last year. It's what I would call "basic" accommodations, but the owner is nice and while the facility is old it seems to be well kept.

Another option is the KOA campground in Straussberg (sp?) They have some small cabins that are rentable.

I plan on staying there during the season as well.

scott.... great idea!! is the facility in good shape, I'm just a little nervous as my wife could be classified as "high maintenance" when it comes to overnight stays.... he idea of camping is staying in a hotel w/doors that open to the outside ops:

Keep in mind the KOA is less than 100yds off I-70... even in the cabins, bring earplugs if the sound of big rigs doesn't lull you to sleep. 8)

That hotel is perfectly fine. Though dated I have spent the night in worse. It reminds me of my childhood traveling cross country on 1-66 the only thing missing is magic fingers...., a machine that used to vibrate the beds in hotels. They went away in the 60's. You guys are spoiled with your modern amenities. Live life the simple way and step back in time!

I spent the night there Saturday night of the race school and didn't think it was so bad. But it does offer your basics. Water, heat, cool, electricity and a roof over your head. And the little restaurant wasn't too bad either after a long day at the track on Saturday. I will be staying there again on May 1st.

If you decide to go the RV route, check out getrv.com I had mine on that site to rent out to private people. Pretty good connection. You are right on the price. No you can't rent mine I am using it that weekend.

Yea, I slept in my box trailer in a sleeping back during the race weekend and loved it, but bringing the wife along I'm not sure how that would fly... Although I see HPR has real bathrooms now, which is nice.

So if my wife came out... had to do homework, she could pickup the wifi on our laptop? Is it through out the paddock, or just in the buildings?
