Appears rod bearings are shot.... what would you do?

I got a horrible knock in my backup bike a few months back, just getting around to tearing it down to start prep for 2011.... Gold flakes in the oil, which I was told is a good indication the bottom end or rod bearings are f'd.... So my question is what would you guys do?? It's an 06 gsxr, so engines on ebay are plentiful, but there is no guarantee another motor won't go boom. Spend the $$ and make a bulletproof SS motor, or take my chances w/a used setup and save a couple bucks? Or... anywhere I could buy a prepped/built motor outright?

take it apart, buy a new crank, rod and bearings and do it yourself... you could learn alot and if it happens again you know how to do it : )

Ditto that. Save money, make it bullet proof, and don't shoot at it.
