    generator ??'s

    Hello All

I am thinking about buying the Honda 2000 series generator, but want to run 2 sets of warmers off of it.

If anyone has this generator or equivilant, please chime in and let me know if I need something bigger.

    Thanks
    Scott

I don't think you'll run 2 sets of warmers off a 2000 watt generator. I think a single set of warmers uses around 1200 watts, I've been told you can't do it though.

Also I just bought a new Homelite 2000 watt generator for literally half the cost of the new Honda. I think it's about 5db louder, but it's still NOTHING close to a commercial, loud generator. I picked up mine from Big-R (tractor supply) been happy so far.

Don't think it will do it. My 2k watt Kipor tripped when I tried plugging a second set of warmers in.

depends on what warmers you use, chicken hawks use more watts then woodcraft warmers.

I ran 2 sets of Woodcrafts on a honda EU 2000 last year with out a single issue.

It was on another forum (wera bbs) Somebody found the specs online, and also had done a side x side comparison.

it's in this thread somewhere: http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php...ight=generator

Using my friend's Honda EU2000, we ran a set of Chickenhawks (I think) and my TyreSox, which only pull 700 watts. Bottom line: it won't do it. If you start up with all 4 warmers cold, so they're all drawing, the breaker goes. Once they get warmed up, and start cycling you might be able to stay running, but as soon as as you get to the point where 3 or 4 cycle on, a 2k gen won't keep up. Now, if you run 2 sets of TyreSox, then maybe it'll work. For 2 sets of regular warmers, a 3k gen is minimum.

FWIW, I just bought one of these Honeywell's for $499 + free shipping:

It's a tiny bit louder than the Honda (or Peter's Kipor) but MUCH quieter than an open ac gen.
