    Wake up, Bart!
i would like to see leaded fuel banned completely...!

NASCAR switched to unleaded fuel because one of their high ups in the chain of command at childress racing who spent many years at the track was killed in a plane accident and when they did an autopsy on him he Had extremely high levels of lead in his body which would have caused problems sooner or later.

Years an years of being around leaded fuels will have an effect on you some way or another. When you are running circles around a track your breathing in what's coming out of the vehicles in front of you.

Merlin plumlee (AMA Honda crewcheif) died of lung cancer and never smoked. It was speculated that maybe years of being at the track around the leaded fuels caused this.

Something to consider for the long termers out there. My lungs are worth way more to me than the valves and valve seats in any motor.

Sorry Glenn I must have brain farted, happens to me all the time. Must be the lead poisoning, every mechanic for anything is exposed to so much shit that I am not at all going to worry about the little amount of lead that running leaded fuel has.
Everything under the sun will eventually kill me, which one gets me first who the hell knows, I don't take really unreasonable risks but I flat out refuse to be scared into living in a bubble of perceived safety imposed by all the environmental fear mongers out there.
Ben to be clear I am not calling you out at all, I am just to the point for me where the very Mention of going Green really pisses me off. Most of it complete and utter bullshit based on some of the worst science since the Dark Ages. Is lead and other substances bad for us yes but the more shit we say you can't do or see or eat or work with eventually we will have nothing. It has to stop somewhere and if we are worried about lead while we hurdle around the track at breakneck speeds it seems silly in the extreme.
Eventually our sport and really any other that involves personal risk will be considered bad and then there for will at some point be outlawed. If we continue at the pace we are it will happen, not may happen but WILL happen it is really just a matter of when.
I love green but it needs to be a on a Kawi racebike running leaded fuel not on a effin bumpersticker.

BTW, I have found out from a very reputable source that B-32, sold here in the springs at cheif petroleum, is very very similar to c-12. I think its $6 a gallon.
FWIW: I think B32 is now marketed as TT111. If nobody knows what you're talking about just ask for the blue Phillips stuff. Chief Petroleum in the Springs is the main distributor in Colorado Front Range. They send a tanker down to the refinery in Texas every month then make the rounds here, such as to Vickery Motorsports. In some dyno tests I ran, TT111 was marginally better than Sunoco 260 GT Plus (104 Octane, 4.8% Oxygen) and slightly better than pump gas in my R6.

Sounds like the Sunoco Standard 110 octane leaded might be a close match. Guess we'll find out soon.

    Hey, Bart, I'm with you.
IMHO, the only thing the Green movement has accomplished so far is to raise prices for everything and make a few conspicuous politicians very rich.

    I'm sticking with ethyl.

That was a major mistake as the motor went south on the maiden voyage of he red bodywork. Clearly I must have offended the race gods by having a red kawi. As soon as I have the time and the desire to rebuild the green body goes back on and the cosmic balance will be restored.

Oxygenated fuels are not illegal in Colorado. It's fuels with MTBE's - http://www.docstoc.com/docs/23561852/MTBE-REGULATIONS/

Correct Jimmy, MTBE fuels are in fact illegal in colorado and many other states. It is said to cause cancer, of course what doesn't anymore. It used to be mandated that MTBE be used here during the winter months to drop emissions. There are many oxygenates out there but MBTE is one of the best for racing apps.

Has anyone stopped to consider that the last decade or so of lab produced white rats may have been accidentally bred to have a genetic predisposition to cancer??
