I was at PPIR recently and the track manager introduced me to and a guy down there who has 7 of those cars, he offered me some laps. He's going to be running a "arrive and drive" program for these cars at PPIR.

He was all excited and was really anxious to see my reaction, and kept going on about how cool these things are.

I said to him, dude, i've been racing bikes for over ten years, it takes alot to get my adrenaline going, I'll try some laps but I driven plenty of cars around race tracks and cars just don't get me going.

Well, as usual I was wrong, I never had so much fun. You can totally steer the thing with the gas pedal. Drifting is so easy i was amazed. The power to weight ratio is the same as a street car with 700hp, no lie!

They're cheap too, you can pick up used ones for $6000-$8000 plus it's all spec motor racing, so the motors are sealed, the shocks are sealed etc... everyone runs the same tires, everyone has to weigh the same.

They use alot of toyota truck parts like tie rod ends, etc... so when you break things you go to NAPA and pay $15. Tires last forever since they are car tires, like a whole season.

Motors are FJ1200 engines, but they are slowly going to watercooled ones which will probably last, forever. I assume Hayabusa motors etc...

They're going to be running a race series for them at PPIR, on both small oval and road course, and possibly the big oval, but not sure about that.

Best thing is you don't need a pit crew of 5 rednecks and 10 cases of beer to keep them working for you. you can do it yourself just like a bike.

They have starters, and a clutch pedal just like a car, so no push starting or effing around like that.

I seriously was so suprised at the performance of them, that I'm going to give it a try.

Cheap racing...pfft who ever heard of that? we'll see

Roberta and i have looked into racing those the past couple of years. For what we spend on a roadrace season you can have a front running car if you can drive it.

Any idea on the price for the arrive and drive?
