    Extreme Makover Home Edition

Just got done volunteering at the new home build the show is doing about three miles from my house. We were building a house for a family that has a little girl with no feeling in her skin. She can't feel hot, cold, etc. A very sad situation as they stood and watched their home being taken away due to medical bills. By far one of the coolest projects I have ever been a part of. We did the entire frame, electrical, plumbing, roofing and sheetrock in just two days. The people that put on the show are truly awesome people and I will be going back on Saturday to move furniture in before they unveil the house to the family on Sunday. I will post pictures of the project soon hopefully. Glenn #62

How did you go about volunteering, and how much prior experience do you need?

they have opportunities for everything from construction to moving furniture. I have prior experience so I was actually able to get into it and get my hands dirty (I did some framing and windows). You basically just sign up when you get there and they have tasks they need done that they will point you to. Glenn #62

    see Clarkie and Dave,
you two are a perfect example of supply and demand. Clarkie has a need and Dave can fill it. Therefore, Dave's volunteer work can be justified. Glenn #62

Dude, that rocks! Giving your time to help someone else is just an awesome way to spend a day, or a week, or whatever.

I noticed you are in the springs. I will be driving my truck to Pueblo on Saturday. Do you guys have anything that needs transport from Denver down there for this project? I'd be happy to hook up the trailer and drop it off for you, if you even need something like that at this point.

    Ralph,
thanks for the offer, but they have everything they need on site. They ship it here the week before ground is broken. Imagine two Vanmar tents stacked with wood piled 12 ft high. It was an unreal site. Here are some pics for y'alls viewing. Spiderman Bob, I got a sweet pic for you when you decide to wake up sleepy head. It's the third one down. Oh, and I threw in a sweet one at the end to get a laugh out of everyone. Glenn #62

That is freakin awesome, wish I had known it was going to be back here in Colorado again. We have some family friends that are brothers that actually designed and did all of the woodwork in the kids bedroom for the house the built in either Arvada or Denver when the show was here in Colorado a few years back.

That is awesome, Glenn. Way to go!

BTW, did you take those pics of the house as you drove by, doing 65? Looks like a photographer with Parkinsons took em!

    Awesome

The episode aired the other night, if you go to www.abc.com, you can watch it under full episodes. What an awesome house they built, what an awesome thing you did Glenn. I hope I can find out ahead of time about the next one here in Colorado I would love to go help out with one of those projects.
