Important Announcements:

  • Bob thanked the Night Owl for hosting the General Meeting.
  • Attendees were informed to collect their tickets from the board.
  • Bob asked about members who received text messages regarding tonight's meeting. He noted that there were problems with MSR, which should be resolved in future. Additionally, if members have opted out of receiving, they will not receive updates.
    • MSR will also be used for pre-registration, updates etc.

  • Regarding the notification online about Modern Vintage sponsorship, a number of attendees confirmed they had seen the post. Bob noted the MRA is going to focus on improving their presence online and met with an expert who advised on what the club should be doing to promote events.
  • Insurance was updated today and the board is working on t-shirts for the season. Mock ups of the MRA public t-shirts were shown.
  • The MRA has opted not to be a vendor for Dunlop tires in 2024. The board is working with Dale to help identify another vendor.
    • In response to an online question, it was confirmed that the current tire vendors for 2024 are Pirelli and Michelin.

Status Updates:
Bob Hasenhundl - President:

  • Bob indicated that information regarding the amateur payout class is still being discussed. It is still part of the plan for this coming season.
    • As a reminder, an amateur class payout race on a Saturday was proposed. There will be qualifying and it will be mutually exclusion from ROR. The specifics regarding the race, such as length, are yet to be determined.

  • The MRA announcer, Mike Schweitzer, indicated that he has a few things planned for the coming season, including interviewing racers to get to know them better.
    • In response to a question, it was confirmed that interviews could be videoed and streamed to increase MRA visibility.


Blair Harness - Vice President

  • There was confusion on early bird licensing, Blair confirmed it is open until March 15th.
  • Discussion is ongoing with contingency vendors.

Deborah Bingham - Secretary

  • Deb noted that a list of novice activities is being developed. This list will contain upcoming events and activities where novices can attend to help out.
    • Zoom attendees should email Deb to record their novice hours for attending the meeting.

  • Bob noted that even if you haven’t raced yet, reach out to Deb to get your novice hours signed off.
  • The raffle that is ongoing has the option to wipe out all novice hours for the winning individuals.
  • A member noted that everyone should pull together and help the club out, even when their novice hours have been fulfilled.


Noel Ross - Treasurer

  • Deposits have been sent in for the tracks, invoices are being sent to sponsors in the coming days.
  • Regarding the SuperStreet multipass, details are being finalized, you will be able to purchase packs of 2/4/6 throughout the season. The more you buy the more you save, and they can be shared between groups.
  • In response to an online question regarding delays in points on SpeedHive. Bob confirmed that we are planning to implement processes to ensure a speedy posting of information.


Katie Rayburn - Race Director

  • Bob provides updates in lieu of Katie
    • In January there was a bunch of new equipment purchased, including flags.
    • Katie is working on reaching out to staff.


Dan Spurlock - New Rider Director

  • Race School is being finalized, the bibs for the instructors are anticipated to arrive on March 15th.
  • Discussions are also ongoing with vendors to attend the upcoming race school.
    • It was confirmed that 13 individuals have signed up for Race School
    • There are also two race schools planned for the Friday of race weekends in Pueblo.
    • The Friday night classroom session is planned to occur at Fay Myers, likely 6:30 - 9 pm. Attendees are welcome to go to the track to camp overnight after the classroom session.
    • Dan will reach out to Brad regarding his interest in instructing.


Dustin Pfeiffer - VP of Rules and Tech

  • There will be a change in process for Tech, a table will be set up beside Tech, which will be on the east side of the track. This will help ensure you are registered for the correct races, receive a track map, and sign the waiver before proceeding through Tech.
  • Dustin confirmed that novices can still assist with tech and check in.
  • Regarding questions on changes to bikes, members were requested to reach out to Dustin.
  • Regarding eligibility for expert GP, Dan confirmed that the members should reach out to him to confirm eligibility to move up.
  • An online question regarding bringing your own tech sheet, Dustin confirmed that racers need to bring that with them.


Dennis Stowers - Rider Rep - Rulebook

  • The Rulebook is being finalized, with a few black and white full and half page ads remaining available. Members were encouraged to think outside the box and perhaps use them to thank their sponsors or the safety team.
    • Pending finalization, the online version will be released.

  • Members were encouraged to start looking over their bikes to prepare for the upcoming season.
  • Regarding the Rulebook changes, information is available online as it was previously discussed in two previous General Meetings.


Santiago Shirtz - Rider Rep - Trophies & Class Sponsors

  • Santiago is working with some car dealers on sponsorship. Businesses other than motorcycles are also being targeted.
  • A member asked if it would be possible to get a brewery to sponsor a class. Santiago confirmed he is in discussions with two breweries.
  • If a member can get sponsorship for the club, Santiago will buy them the first round at the Night Owl.
  • Santiago is also working with a radio company to have an ad on the radio.
  • Mike noted that a documentary pitch regarding grassroots racing for cars and bikes is in the works.
  • Brad suggested that the MRA invite Fox news to a track day, or if a reporter has a bike, we could invite them out to SuperSport.
  • Mike will reach out to Santiago regarding some ideas he has for promoting sponsorship.


Tim Ellis - Rider Rep - PR & Events

  • A calendar of events is being collated; however, members were asked to reach out to Tim if they become aware of events that the MRA could attend.
    • Tiffany suggested Tim reach out to the sponsor for a calendar of events. She noted he should continue to contact vendors on a regular basis to identify any events in the coming weeks.

  • Tim thanked members who reached out to assist at the Expo. The Expo went really well and some potential new members were reached.
  • There is a race school giveaway ongoing. The MRA is trying to reach out to different groups to attract new racers to the club.
    • By reaching out to other groups and different audiences, it enhances the visibility of the MRA in general.
    • Suggestions included water balloons, dunk tanks, slow bike races and BBQ potluck.
    • Meeting attendees indicated a willingness to attend events on Friday nights.

  • Tim noted one of the main attractions of the MRA is the family environment that he encountered. He asked members what would get them to engage more and encouraged them to reach out with suggestions.


Codey Chewning - Rider Rep - Press & Comms

  • Codey asked that members reach out to him regarding ideas.
  • Shift magazine has published the race schedule recently. Codey is also trying to have them attend a race weekend to promote the club and expand the audience.


Member Questions:


  • Regarding the announcement of a 2-hour endurance race, Bob confirmed that round 6 will be a 2-hour event. This will model the same path as the 4 hour, there will be no 2X classes run that day. SuperStreet will still occur following the conclusion of the 2-hour endurance race.
    • An interclub endurance racing series was not approved by the Utah board for this year.
    • The MRA tried to entice them by offering reciprocal discounts on entry fees. The board is still hopeful for that to occur next season.
      • Brad suggested also providing gas money for traveling racers.

    • There is a possibility for a special endurance series in future, but this has still to be discussed by the board.
    • Regarding the possibility of placing the 2-hour event prior to the 4-hour event, the 4-hour event is placed first due to the longer days.

  • Regarding Legion’s SBK series, there is only one race overlapping. Legion is allowing reciprocity for only one race.
  • Bob Halbert noted that if you want to order Pirelli tires, he's starting to accept orders today and would appreciate advanced notice.
    • He noted there will be some walk in tires available at race weekends, however it will be limited. He noted orders should be placed by the 15th of the month prior.
