Important Announcements:

  • Thank you as always to the Nite Owl for hosting us and for all of you on fighting the traffic in Denver and showing up

Status Updates:
Chris:

  • Encourage members to bring up anything they want to discuss so we can discuss it and work through it (we encourage discussion!)
  • Tiffany is handing out tickets - the member drawn will receive $15 in MSR credit for showing up to the General Meeting in person

    • May push for more here in the future
    • Show up in person, you will receive a ticket, and the individual drawn will receive a $15 MSR credit!

  • Contract for Liability Insurance - has been completed and the documents have been signed. Club is in good shape for liability insurance. Just have to send the check for the initial deposit
  • Contract for PPIR is almost finished. Waiting on PPIR and will need to give deposit for that track
  • Looking to do advertising in this year’s rulebook. It is a new thing we are going to try - last couple of years we have not had a program (partly because of COVID)

    • Members can do a business card sized ad, sponsors for each class will have some sort of a presence (again, young stages of development here)
    • Prices will be set soon, will be cheaper and you can put anything you want in there
    • Rulebooks will be printed and will not just be digital

  • There will be a mailchimp released in the next couple of days when the rulebook is released - keep an eye out for that
  • After the rule change meeting, there were still some discrepancies that needed to be solved and the final draft of the rulebook literally just got released
  • Jim Wilson gave us the previous people who printed out the rulebook during our BOD Meeting on Monday, so we have a place to start

    • 100-200 copies is around $500

Bob:

  • Early bird pricing ends the 15th of March
  • 71 racers registered for this year and 3 associate memberships. Have sold 16 pit crew passes and 9 individual pit passes.
  • Various contributions to the safety fund (do not have an exact number at the moment)
  • Physical passes will be distributed during Race rounds, they will no longer be mailed out
  • 39 students signed up for the race school, 11 spots left open. 25 students have already committed to buying a race license for this year
  • Novices have to complete novice hours, a novice has to do 4 hours of community service

    • 2 of these hours can be completed by attending 4 General Meetings for 0.5 hours a piece.
    • Let the VP or the Secretary know so we can keep track of your Novice Hours

  • NATC - they will be in attendance at Round 1 and there will be a slightly modified schedule.

    • They asked for “prime pit spots”. After looking at HPR, we offered them both sides of the row just North of Pre Grid (NOT Hot Pit).
    • Visit them and chat them up! Ask them about their goals and aspirations
    • Jayden Fernandez will be a part of the NATC crew
    • It is our Round 1, but the NATC’s Round 2

  • The NATC asked if there was a track day, so some of them may be riding on Friday at HPR

    • If they want to ride in MRA classes they could, but I don’t anticipate that any of them will be riding in any of the MRA’s classes

Tiffany:

  • Can talk to me about anything regarding money (donations, fees, etc)
  • there was a huge decrease in safety fund donations because the option wasn’t there, but that has now been added into MSR
  • K&K Liability and Umbrella Insurance deposit is coming up ($8k initial deposit and $1300 a month afterward)
  • $2k was moved from operations to reserve account, so reserve fund is back up to $50k

Jared:

  • Wanted to remind everyone to review the tech inspection list and be prepared for the race weekends for the season coming up.
  • You need to have your tech inspection list ready to go BEFORE reaching tech

Jeff:

  • Race school is exactly one month away
  • There are 11 spots left, so if you haven’t registered, now is your chance
  • The classroom portion is the Friday before the track portion at Fay Myers. Doors open at 6:00pm
  • The Riders meeting for the track portion will be at 7:30 Saturday morning. The gate opens Friday night.

    • Your bike needs to be ready PRIOR to the Rider’s Meeting. Keep that in mind

  • If you aren’t ready now, you are almost behind. Get your crap together now (both students and instructors)
  • Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions

John:

  • Had a meeting scheduled with HPR to reprogram all the radios due to a change in the repeater - this was canceled and moved to tomorrow morning
  • Going to get a copy of the truck inspection sheet
  • Will be purchasing fire extinguishers; will be asking Glenn if he has a place he prefers to get his fire extinguishers from

    • One fire extinguisher per racer
    • Ended up buying a two pack of fire extinguishers for pretty cheap ($35)

  • The helicopter insurance deal has been signed

    • There will be a blast done about this when it is fully complete, it is only $65 a year
    • Will be adding an MRA website page for just the helicopter insurance

  • We need corner workers! If you are interested or know anyone who is interested, please send John an email so you can be added to the list
  • Will be doing a Corner Worker meetup sometime soon, keep an ear out for that
  • If you want to be a sponsor but do not have a logo, please let the board know as we can potentially work out a logo for you for advertising reasons

Nate:

  • The radio programming event may be a fun one to do a press release on to get across clubs
  • Will be doing a press release for the AirMed Care insurance
  • The race school is also going to be a massive press release for the MRA
  • Am open to any stories someone has that I can do research on and get out there
  • Partner with a local photographer and purchase a photography package so we can start our 2022 marketing package with some new pictures (may be a great way to get new pictures)

    • We do need a photographer, Branden Wren and Joe Achee will not be joining, so we do need a photographer

  • Get active on social media! They do not have to be just racing pictures, any pictures of the MRA is welcome across ALL social media sites!
  • We will need an announcer for this year, keep an ear and eye out for people, or do it yourself!

Dennis:

  • Thank you to everyone for coming to the meeting and for being a part of the Zoom
  • Rulebook is complete and will be posted soon - print publishing as soon as possible
  • Rider’s need to get busy working on their bikes so everything is wired and ready to go

    • Complete your tech checklist Friday afternoon BEFORE you get to tech to make everything more efficient

  • Email Dennis with any questions

Blair:

  • Been talking to previous year’s sponsors, so far everyone from last year is back to be a sponsor this year.
  • Have had some new people reach out to be sponsors for this year
  • Will be starting the trophy acquisition part of it here soon
  • It should never be too difficult to do business with us - we will discuss this further as a BoD

    • There should be a kind of packet that someone can look at to see what they can sponsor, etc
    • Am working on streamlining all of this, so stay tuned
    • Are getting away from the verbal contract/handshake type deals this year
    • The goal is to make it easy for people to do business with us (see above)
    • We should have different options to sponsor as well if the classes are already all sponsored

      • Thinking about adding sponsorship packages, where a sponsorship comes with different things and will cost different amounts, etc

        • Was kind of the idea with rulebook advertising

    • Should get the sponsors more involved with the Banquet as well - maybe our attitude toward the banquet is what is killing their attitude toward the banquet

  • The sponsorship packet comes with an Associate Membership and a pit crew pass so they can come and go from events as they please

    • Gives voting rights for BoD elections - but not for racing changes

Erik:

  • Did the Colorado Motorcycle Expo - thank you to everyone who came and helped run the booth!

    • The showing was more Harley Davidson focused, but a few people still came and checked out our booth
    • Was a better showing this time than in previous years, so there was some good interest when compared to previous years
    • Some people took SuperStreet vouchers
    • Come people were asking about the race school and for signing up for race licenses

  • International Motorcycle Show coming up June 17-19

    • Will be looking for volunteers again to come help with the show. Will be more our focus for this show
    • Novices can get Novice Hours!
    • In between our two rounds in June

Member Questions:

  • What is the deadline?

    • This is still in the very young stages of development, we are working on getting all that figured out. The rulebook is ready to go to print, so this would need to happen very soon. Digital rulebook will be released here in the next couple of days

  • Is the goal to get this year’s sponsors into the rulebook? Previously, it was last year’s sponsors that were in the rulebook.

    • Yes, we are trying to get this year’s sponsors. However, many of them typically do not secure their sponsorship in time for the rulebook to hit the printers in a timely manner
    • There will have to be a cut-off date for sure, keep an ear out for that
    • Some sponsors have already committed, but not all of them have committed yet

  • What is the total cost for printing out the rulebook? Could someone sponsor the rulebook to be able to cover the cost.

    • The price depends on how many pages the rulebook is and how many we decide to print. We are working on quotes as to how much it will cost per page, and from there, we can estimate how many pages will be used and can estimate the cost.
    • When we have this number, we will let everyone know and someone can sponsor the rulebook if they so please

  • Do we know what the number was for last year, for students who committed to buying race licenses?

    • This was not an option that was offered last year via MSR. They pay for it up front and if the class files up, they get priority over the students who did not commit to buying a race license

  • Is the tech inspection list online?

    • Yes, the tech inspection list is a part of the rulebook

  • Are instructors still going to be paired with students so they can pit together?

    • Yes, Brownie will be talking with instructors more about that closer to time.
    • Have a map and have it ready for the students so they know where you will be pitted. Maybe it should be mandatory that students should be pitted with or immediately near their instructors

  • When is the instructor’s meeting?

    • The 19th - two Saturdays from now. An email has already been sent to the instructors, if you haven’t gotten it, let Brownie know.
    • The Instructors meeting will be at the Nite Owl, but typically don’t make that public information so only instructors show up

  • What does it cost to sponsor a class?

    • Sprint classes are $850, endurance classes are $750, SuperStreet and Corner workers are a little cheaper, and ROR is a little more expensive. There is a range

  • If you sponsor a class, can you come out to the track with a pop-up and advertise your business?

    • At HPR, as long as it is NOT food or alcohol it is good
    • As long as it is just a table with brochures, then they do not need to be on any sort of list because they are not selling/giving away any sort of food/beverage etc

  • Do not forget about ARMA coming out to HPR in April - there are people coming out with bikes that are rideable if your bike is not prepped and ready for the season quite yet

    • If you do have a bike, make sure it is eligible
    • This will be happening in the last weekend of April

  • New grids are being painted at HPR and there are other updates being done before the season starts!
  • What was going on with the steering dampeners?

    • There was a verbiage correction in the rulebook, is all
