    2018 Rule Change Summary

    Here are the rule changes for 2018. There will be some administrative changes not listed below. I am only listing the changes for 2018, not the suggestions. This is only a quick synopsis of what the rule changes will be for 2018. This in no way reflects the actual wording that will be placed in the 2018 rulebook. This is for informational purposes only. This thread was not started to create a debate, but in an effort to keep racers informed. If you want to discuss the reasoning behind the rule changes, please contact me.

    1. Production Cup changes:
    Unrestricted internal modifications of the OEM radiator may be made as long the external dimensions and materials remain the same. Radiator cap of
    unlimited origin.
    The bike can be modified for the installation of a rear shock. No excess material can be removed that does not necessitate the installation of said shock.
    The ECU and or a tuning device can alter fuel, ignition, and rpm management.

    2. Supertwins GTU will be modified allow up to 800cc motorcycles.

    3. Thunderbike will up to 959cc the Panigale must meet supersport motor requirements.

    4. Magnesium subframes can be replaced with aluminum subframes. Aluminum bolts and fasteners can be replaced with steel.

    5. ULW Endurance will be based on 500cc four-stroke single or twin cylinder motorcycles, produced and sold for street use in the United States. The class will be based on superbike rules.

    6. Participation in the 4-hour endurance race will count towards an overall class championship. (All participants will receive a fixed number of points).

    7. MRA officials have 3 laps (from the start of the race) to display a meatball flag for a jumped start.


    We are still reviewing the data on a practice schedule doing practices by times. More to follow.
