Carbon Case Guards Legal?

Looked in the rule book but couldn't find an exact answer.

So, the reason for having aftermarket case covers on the bikes with vulnerable cases is that when the bike hits the ground they don't immediately wear through and oil the track down like they would if you have the thin stock ones. I looked into the carbon covers that Leo is making and although they look really trick I couldn't find anything saying they were for actual protection of the cases. If you can find something saying that they are made to protect the cases in a crash I'd like to see it and they would most certainly be allowed, but I couldn't find that leading me to believe they're just cosmetic. Sorry for the late reply man.

i know world superbike makes you use carbon. the case covers we use aren't even allowed.
but like Carl said protection is the key.

They do cover the key components. Also no one really makes a cover for the oil cover on the Kawi's (Woodcraft for instance only makes the stater and water pump cover). They cover the components just like the GB racing covers so I would expect these to be legal? :dunno:

I've got the Leo Vince carbon case covers on my 636. The outside is Carbon Fiber and they have a layer of Carbon Kevlar on the inside so I'm sure protection isn't a problem.

Peanut, can you find anywhere that Leo says the covers offer crash protection? Or maybe post a pic of the inside of the cover so we can see how thick they are? What they look like on the Internet is just a thin cosmetic piece of carbon, I'd really like to know if there is more to them.

I talked to Leo Vince and they are Homoligated for AMA use. They were used by Dustin Dominguez last season.

I'm having clearance issues with my Leo Vince exhaust and the Catalyst bodywork. The bottom of the pan is touching the collector.
