    GO PRO ISSUES

So I recorded some of the races from the 2nd round on my go pro hero 3 and when I go to load them on youtube it says it's going to take 600-700 or more minutes to download. I tried a couple times now but even after the 6-700 minutes it never finishes processing. I recorded them in the 1080 option on the gopro. My thoughts are I need to record in a lower option like 780. I know a lot of racers are using the gopro so let me know what is working for you guys/gals so I can get these online too.

    Thanks

I recorded on a Gopro Hero 1 in 780 and it told me the same thing 600-700 minutes to upload it to youtube so I gave up on it.

720 on the GoPro to watch at home on HDTV looks great.

Then for YouTube or other uploads, I use iSkysoft Video Converter or Handbrake to trim it down to a smaller size for uploads.

avidemux is an excellent, simple, free program that makes trimming and re-encoding GoPro footage to a more manageable size rather easy. I usually record in 720p and then use avidemux to 1) trim the video without any loss in quality whatsoever then 2) re-encode to 2000 kbit/s or so using the average bitrate (2 pass) setting. The second step takes some time depending on how powerful your computer is, but the resulting video is usually 1/4 the size of the original and thus takes 1/4 of the time to upload. For the purposes of youtube, the video generally looks just fine.
