Do they work well and how difficult are they to use? By that I mean can they ruin your rotors easily?

Very easy to use, especially if you have a drill press. It's like using sandpaper to remove the glazing. It's possible to damage the rotors if you leave the hone spinning on one spot for extended period of time.

I have used this hone. I chuck the rotor in a lathe and turn the rotor at the slowest speed of the lathe. The hone is chucked in a portable DC electric drill. I hold the hone against the rotor at a slight angle. I use a medium grit hone.

It works great!

or you can modify 2 hones by putting them facing each other on a common shaft then you can do it with the wheel/rotor on the bike

Just picture these two hones on one shaft face to face and they will sandwhich the rotor making the job a lot easy at home or at the track

Or you could just bead blast em with the proper material.
