Charlie Coyner Crash Update [Archive]

I have heard from Cindy Coyner and she reports that Charlie is in ICU at University Hospital.
He has a broken arm, 8 broken ribs, and a broken scapula.

The hospital is keeping a close eye on Charlie and she will know more tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for their concern and help packing up the Coyner's trailer. They really appreciate it.

To tell you guys what a tough old SOB Charlie is...

When they were getting ready to transport him, they asked him what his pain level was on a 1 - 10 scale, 10 being the worst ever.

He says, "I dunno, maybe a 3 or 4."

:shock:

He's gonna do fine I'm sure, and be up to his ornery tricks again before we know it.

Lisa talked to his wife last night. He will be staying in the hospital for about a week. He's pretty sore from the broken ribs so they are trying to keep him comfortable.

Charlie is back in the Springs and is being seen by his own doctors. It looks like he may need surgery on his broken arm.

We are trying to locate his prescription sunglasses. They are Oakley brand and Charlie really would like then back.

If anyone has seen them or knows if they were loaded in his trailer please let us know. I have all his gear from the crash and they were not in his helmet.

I remember we put quite a bit of stuff in rubbermaid containers in his trailer but I'm sure it wasn't very well organized! Might be worth checking!

At the time they were in one of his boots so they wouldn't get stepped on. I don't know if they migrated from there during transport.

I called Charlie early this morning and he sounds alot better. He had the surgery on his arm and it is healing and seems to be doing ok,. He will need some physical therapy. His ribs are better and he can cough now without it hurting but he still has discomfort laying down. He has to go back to work next week.

If you want to give him call I am sure he would appreciate it.
