As many of you have seen, recently I have been getting a 2001 zx6 back up and running to sell to a new rider. We have replaced the battery, front fork seals, and last night cleaned the carbs. So today we were suppose to put the forks back on and get the bike started.

My wife thought it would be a good idea to make sure the bike starts before the new owner came over to help with the forks. Needless to say when we turn the key we do not hear the fuel pump engage. The bike will try and turn over but will not start. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? Could it be something simple like the fuel pump relay since the bike has been sitting for three years?

Is there anyone that has knowledge of this or a similar bike that can come over and help?

Replace the one for the fuel pump anyways, sometimes they look good when they aren't

Also, check all electrical connections, fuel lines, (petcock?). Check for continuity at the sidestand switch, the handlebar kill switch etc.

Work a system 1 end to another, eventually you'll find it.

Sitting for 3 years it is prolly the fuel pump it self, fuel inside has turned to jelly and not much you can do other than replace it.
