Hello MRA!

As of 2011 the MRA will no longer be AMA Sanctioned, but we will retain our AMA Charter.

What does this mean?

Being an AMA “Sanctioned” organization requires us to use the approved AMA insurance provider, which for 2011 will cost $12,000 more than the alternative. We also pay $200/event to have our schedule listed in their magazine, etc. In addition our racers are personally required to be AMA members, at a cost of $39 each, or $11,700 collectively per year. This change will collectively save the club more than $25,000 in 2011.

We retain our AMA Charter, which means as a club we believe and support what the AMA is doing. The AMA lobbies for important motorcyclist issues and legislation, and sanctions national level racing. AMA membership supports legislative action and provides discounts from its affiliates, not to mention an amazing roadside assistance program. We encourage our members to continue their personal AMA membership for these reasons, but we will no longer require AMA membership to race with the MRA.

Please contact any board member with questions. Or join us at the next MRA General Meeting on January 12th at the Walnut Room and catch up on all the current club news!
