I am proposing we update the MRA Bylaws at this coming election. Specifically I want to accomplish two things:

1) Make the language in the bylaws more congruous with the language in our articles of incorporation; and

2) In so doing, we are then eligible to convert the MRA to a 501 (c)(7) Non Profit Organization (which I'm currently working on the application for) - the Feds recognize a 501 (C)(7) as non-profit. We are NOT currently recognized by the Feds as a true non-profit. That way, in years like this when we DO make a profit, we don't have to give it all back in the form of taxes...

a copy of the revised bylaws can be found here:

The blue text indicates the changes.

I noticed that the PO Box # was wrong, so I fixed that. Added Articles 1 & 13 (which are required to be in the bylaws to be considered for non profit status), and as a result had to re-number the entire document....

There will be a question on the ballot (yes or no) "shall the MRA bylaws be changed as per the revisons posted at http://filezilla.mra-racing.org/files/MRABy-LawsOct2010Revision.pdf ?"

You then answer yes or no. I respectfully request that you answer "YES".

Any questions or concerns, post 'em up right here... :)

** I've been advised that the rest of you can't simply "post 'em up right here..." in the Announcement Forums. So if you have questions or comments please PM me.
