Pics 8-29-2009 - Bike burns after crash / turn 11 @ HPR

Heading into turn 11, bike 901 drops onto the pavement.
Bike 945 cannot avoid it and hits bike 901.
Then bike 277 is next and cannot avoid the downed bikes.
Gas leak from 277 soon ignites.

I consider it an honor and a privilege to photograph the races.

Yeah Glenn, that sounds right. I believe that was the last round in the MRA, and I went to Miller's last round after that with the other bike.

I checked my camera data on that batch of photos and it shows 8-29-2009.
All I am sure of is that this is the wildest set of events that I have ever seen at the track.
Interestingly, I have more photos from same date in 2010 also.

Never saw those shots before. Another photographer did capture a couple but you have a lot more.

Moham (945) highsided right in front of me. I tucked the front at about the same spot and Brownie (277) came in next hitting Mohams bike. It was definitely a crazy crash.

That's what got me! I saw the 8/29 date but didn't catch the 2009...I was thinking "man, that was a lot longer ago than last month"....I just didn't realize it was long enough ago that it was last season! LoL

Lee Glide & I were standing next to each other when this happened.
Lee has been a mentor to me in photography.
He taught me the value of blurred backgrounds, while panning on the riders,
instead of just setting a high shutter speed, which makes the riders look posed.

I come home with a much higher discard rate, but when I get a keeper, it is also more rewarding.
