View Full Version : Dumb Krapasaki Question...

So I usually change my own oil, but someone did it for me recently.

They installed a filter different from the one (K&N) that I usually use (the wrong one IMO).

It was a bit larger (longer, not wider), which made it difficult to get it off the bike. It was hitting the exhaust.

I finally got if off, but the oil filter bolt/pipe/screw came off with the filter.

Every time I've changed my oil the "pipe" (this is what Kawi calls it in the parts manual) stays in the engine and doesn't come out with the filter.

I simply screwed it back into the engine (hand tightened) and then installed the new filter over top of it.

Should I be concerned? Sorry for such a dumb question. I know how to ride bikes, but working on them is new to me. :?

If it is a Kawi your filter should be a 204. A 303 will work but it is longer. As far as the part that came out. Put a little blue loctite on it and screw it back in by hand.
