Pre-order Dunlop tires for Pueblo!!

Hello racers,
I spoke to Tom Abbott. The city of Pueblo has asked that the vendors apply for a city vending license. This basically means that we (the vendors) must apply for and collect city and county taxes.

What this means is that the vendors have to pay a license fee ($150, $75 is refundable pending we leave our "spot" as clean as we found it ??), the additional $50 dollar PMP vendor fee, and a $10 background check..yeah.

More importantly, it means that we must charge the 4.5% city and county tax. I can't speak for everyone but I would rather not have that additional tax to you, the costumer.

So in an effort to make this a minimal impact as possible, I STRONGLY suggest that you buy your tires before race day. This will avoid the additional tax and also solidify the plans for tires so you don't have to wait till the last minute to purchase.

I will still take orders at pueblo but again, I would suggest buying your tires before hand if possible.

I'm not a vendor, but this strikes me as yet another nail in the PMP coffin, courtesy of the ignorant bureaucrats at Pueblo city hall. I wonder how much longer the ol' girl can hang on.

Im not a vendor either, but I play on TV...anyhoo. I would think that both vendors and participants would be inclinded to pay more in taxes to the city, which I assume owns or manages Pueblo if they saw a direct link to their dollars at the track. IE Resurfacing the track or at least some serious repairs.

On the plus side, its appealing to go race at an old track that has a vintage feel to it, on the negative side, its not appealling to race on a track surface that has an old vintage feel to it.

Im not a fan of socialist taxation principles that most small city governments propegate, however I can see the need for collecting more revenue down there, would be nice to see it allocated correctly and fairly though.

Ben you are right in that it should not have been brought up this way, what is wrong is that Pueblo city has no idea how to run a racetrack. I am our rep to the CMC and it is clear they have no clue, setting up a permanant vendor yea it makes perfect sense to apply for a license and tax correctly but to my knowledge no other track has asked for a vendor like us to do this. You make it sound like we don't tax what we sell, we do but it's done out of where we are based not where we are at the time.
The way citys make money from a racetrack is not at the track itself but in hotels food gas and Strip clubs if STs in town. The major at La Junta once told us that when the MRA came through it was worth 30-50 grand, if pueblo wants to make more money as a city they need to make it worth going there.

I'm sure no vendor would have any problem paying a vendor fee and taxes if the money, or even a fraction of it was going back into the track, but lets face it, it's not, at all. The city government like most governments right now are hurting for revenue, and they will gouge it out of whoever they can... it's the American way.

Ben my friend you need to relax a little, going to give yourself a heartattack. You did the vendor thing for a bit so you should know that what Pueblo is trying to do is wrong, now if our other vendors are not taxing properly that is a problem but not one one to be solved by pueblo. I pay taxes on all the tires I sell, just a price of doing business. The way I read it and I may be wrong but he is just trying not add on Pueblos tax to the ones he already pays.
I will not be selling anything at Pueblo either as I don't agree with their current policys, they need to look at what the rest of the country does with racing instead of asking the bean counters how it should be done. Please don't take this personal, this is not a heated debate just a discussion.

But let's keep in mind that the vendors do pay a vendor fee. Pueblo is choosing to ask for a $50 vendor fee as well as the city tax license. My ASSUMPTION would be that the $50 would be directly applied to the track and who knows whats the taxes will be applied to. But you know what happens when you assume..

I can speak for myself as a vendor, I would rather have the cash I "make" to go to us directly rather than a city that happens to be where the track is located. What happens when we contribute funds and then 5 years down the road the track gets shut down and the city keeps the cash we made them. cough cough..second creek...cough..

I know the city does own the track and it must remain a motorsports complex but things can and do change all the time.

Eh, not trying to add to a debate, just saying that we know we are having our own problems at it would be nice if we could solve them instead of "giving the aid away."

Pueblo taxes are still pennies on the dollar I"m told. Do something else other than type bullsh*t soapbox bantering. My 2 cent's.

Like Glenn said I am the new Shinko dealer and I have tires for $600 dollas. For the front. Just kidding!!

I am the new (and hopefully for a while) exclusive Dunlop motorcycle race tire dealer for Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. I have been involved with the AMA and Moto GP for the last 6 years. I am excited to use my experience for my first priority, which is the MRA.

I have 3 levels of DOT tires to offer.

Track day tires: 1 front and 2 rears for $329 per set
AMA Spec tires: $363 per set
ROR winning UK tires: $485 per set (most to buy but actually the cheapest lap for lap tire)
