So I have a 04 gsxr 600 front end on a 1st gen sv650 and the scotts steering damper mount does not fit. I have the gsxr nut and clamp and the sv tank mount. The clamp for the triple hits the tank mount. Anyone know what I need to do? I have pictures trying to show the both pieces are wanting the same space

First idea that comes to mind is to get rid of that POS top mount damper and put a linear damper on the side. The reason that your damper has the Scotts name on it instead of Ohlins is because Ohlins made it for dirt bikes not street and did not want there name on a misused product. Side or front mount is the way to go for street bikes, the closer you get the damper to the wheel the better it works.

I think what Bart WAS trying to say is you will probably be better served if you NOT TRY to modify the set up and just go with a quality side or front mount damper system, of which Ohlins is one and there are a couple of others to choose from. Faster would be happy to talk with you about a system that will work for your setup and I highly recommend them. You could ask for some JACK ASS named Bart there or Nick or Ian and they will be happy to help you make a good buy. 8)

Prolly came on a little strong, dampers is one of my buttons for sure but there is a reason Suzuki puts the damper where they do. The only Factory team that uses a top mount damper is Honda with there electronic controlled one. Side mount on a SV is just so damn easy its silly to do anything else.
Oh and for future reference it is a damper not a dampener.
