Just curious if anyone has used the Bazzaz z-afm setup on their bikes. I have two bikes, both equipped w/Bazzaz units, and considering this instead of dyno-tunes. Curious what your thoughts are, and if it's something people have used, and if it works very well? Cheers :D

Luke,

I've never used a bazzaz unit, so keep that in mind with my answer.

My experience is that there is no replacement for a quality tuner with the right tools. When I say that, what I mean is that the PERSON running the tuning operation is the most important part of the equation. A really good tuner who knows what they are doing is the best solution to any fuel / air ratio issue. Put that person with the right tools (quality dyno) and you've really got something.

I've tried doing it myself with carbs, I've tried the prebuilt maps from Dynojet and I've had really good tuners map my bikes. The results were clear as day. My work was better than the downloaded maps, but the tuner's work was FAR SUPERIOR to mine.

hope that's helpful

Scott is right. Pro turners can do a better job.

It is good to have though if you plan to travel out of state.

I do have one on my bike and the program is pretty simple.

To be honest, I planned on having both bikes dyno tuned... but paying upwards of $500 for that does put a damper on that, especially with the season just starting. I do plan on traveling to Miller, and possibly to OK/TX where the elevation is 1000' or so, which probably would lean the bikes out quite a bit.. I'm not looking for either bike to be any faster, I'm the weak link in the equation. I just want the piece of mind that the bikes aren't running lean and I can get some longevity out of the machines... etc.
