Crate or Pallet for Motorcycle Shipping

I think I finally sold my bike, but this person is in Florida.

Would anyone happen to have a pallet or old crate they don't need anymore for shipping? Or possibly point me in a direction to find one?

i've used Forward Air in the past. use their crates, the medium should work. just drain all your fluids and bring your own tie downs.

He's the one organizing the shipping... and I think he's using UPS freight. Not my choice, don't really care, but I do want to find either a quality crate/pallet or build one. I'm not going to ship it on some janky crap, ya know?

So I'm specifically looking for prebuilt ones or if someone knows of a bike dealership or somewhere that discards them.

i may be wrong but i THINK most dealership crates will require some disassembly. maybe crommer or one of the other dealership folks will chime in.

i would try to push him toward forward air for both your sake. it will save you both a ton of time. their crates already have tie down points and when he unloads it he will be able to easily roll into his transport vehicle.

i've heard ups is cheaper if you claim as "motorcycle parts" but imo reducing the pain in arse factor is a reasonable surcharge :D

Wow, UPS freight for a bike? I would really try to steer him away, having a buddy who works for UPS I can tell you that will not end well.

Forward Air is very very good as mentioned and I also used these guys and it was cheap and very smooth: www.freightcenter.com

Dude forward air is your best bet, I have used them on my last two bikes.... for about $400 from the east coast.

I actually asked a UPS dude, while dropping off some boxes of bike parts a a couple months back, what it would cost to send a bike out there. They strictly go offf their stupid computer they have there for dimensions, it needs to be a closed crate supplied by you and was overr 1300 bucks...retarded, tell the dude he is going to have a heap of trouble with pickup as well.

I guess he has a friend that works with or through UPS and gets bad ass rates. I don't know the whole story, but before insurance it will be around $300. Once it leaves my possession, I don't really care at that point... I just want to make sure the crate holds up.

Just make sure if he pays through paypal or something similar that he doesn't try to claim for his money back if the thing is in 5 pieces when he gets it.

I have sent peoples money back before on expensive items if they aren't willing to dime up for safe shipping, just isn't worth the hassle long-term.

I shipped my bike from SLC to Phoenix on a home made crate for $62. Showed up just as it left... :D

I found some really good quotes on there, but this kid didn't care. He wanted it crated and wanted to use his friend at UPS. I tried telling him what a POS UPS is for shipping freight b/c they don't give a rats ass. So, here is the crate.... I think it should hold up just fine.
