I think it would be awesome to slap one of these in a newer 600 or 1000 chassis. Third one down, 850cc two stroke 200hp. Pure nastyness. Closest thing you can come to a GP bike. Would that motor even be legal in the MRA?

you can still buy a gp 500, check out this thread on the paton bikes. they are only ~$115k

No need to be goin' all silly there Mr. Marty! The MRA doesn't have a class where it would be legal. No sir. But I have wondered when we might start seeing 500's show up for sale or if they would forever be in the hands of collectors and responsible people.

That being said, it would probably make a better chassis for a big Ducati twin! Think of it as a better Bimota. :D

Marty, '87 air cooled Yamahas are the bomb, literally!

Why not RORO?

Why not RORO?

Yeah, the wording has changed slightly. I thought it used to assign a minimum displacement for ROR-O to exclude the ROR-U bikes. It now reads, "Motorcycles legal for Race of the Rockies GTU cannot be used in Race of the Rockies GTO."

So that got me curious... It turns out the best place to run a 500GP bike is definitely Middleweight Endurance! The classes are defined as unlimited frame and engine combination, but use the superbike displacement limits... middleweight: 510cc two or more cylinder two stroke, water cooled.

For everyone NOT interested in cutting up a TZ250 chassis and just to keep this going...
