December 2009 issue has a good article on Ben Bostrom:

excerpts:

Does cycling help your racing?

"Definitely. Racers use the bicycle to train because it has the feel of the motorcycle, just a different approach on power output. The key is to push the body to its max and beyond, which simulates race conditions and builds tolerance to pain and heat exhaustion. The leathers we wear can get up to 140 degrees inside, so it gets pretty nasty when you're pushed to the limits and there are still five laps to go."

Is speed the biggest difference between the two sports?

"The speed is all relative. If everybody drives 65 mph on the highway, it feels like a parking lot. As long as we're all doing 190 mph on the straight, it feels slow, except when the corner arrives- then you feel the speed and fear, just like cornering the canyons on a bicycle. Riding a bicycle down the canyons keeps you sharp and trains you to always look ahead. No one likes crashes in spandex"

Good stuff
