Got the tires mounted from a local shop, and they were unsuccessful in getting the rubber to seat on the rim.

Bike is an XR50, 10" wheels with Dunlop TT's on them. Can anyone help who has experience or thinks they can get the job done? Let me know, trying to make the mini moto races this Saturday.

Thanks in advance!

Go to Discount Tire and ask them to use the "Cheetah" on your rim. That will seat it NO problem.

wrap a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire, and tighten it up.

Dont use a cheetah very dangerous on something that small. I manage a Tires Plus store in Lonetree. will be there tomorrow Thursday. until 9Pm. Would be willing to give it a shot. My store number is 303-706-9575. Only available tomorrow. after that Im off for wedding and honeymoon.

Thanks and hope to help. Kirk

When I worked at Discount I have done dozens of rims that way. Brownie's idea is pretty good too, but take out the valve core... it'll allow more air pressure. And lube up the beads with some dish soap. :)

Thanks Brownie, I actually tried that. At one point we had 3 straps going in all different directions and still no help.

Premium, I did use LOTS of dish soap I guess its not slick enough still.

zedx6, I dropped the tires off last night at another shop. If they dont have any luck I will be stopping by your lonetree location tonight.

Thanks everyone for the help :)

Maybe this would be a good time to try the starting fluid trick. I always wanted to try that.

Yeah what Brownie said and then leave the tire in the sun, if you can find any. 8)

I actually did that a couple weeks ago on a truck tire... it does work and it's pretty bad ass. :)

What exactly is this trick you speak of?

be very careful Casey. With to much starting fluid you could blow up that tiny tire. I wouldn't use the can of fluid to light it. Maybe sprey the starting fluid on a stick and light it that way.

Yeah that is funny cuz you can see the guy caught his hand on fire lighting it that way. That would be one adjustment I make for sure :)

I used the cheetah on my four wheeler tires before. You don't need to use 170psi in the tank, I used about 100psi.

I hate using the cheetah, it scares the crap out of me because of things like the explosion of air and sometimes it likes to kick back and hit you in the knee. Good times.

Damn, even a 100psi is ballsy with a Cheetah on a small tire. I usually just put about 75psi in there, lubed up the bead a lot and gave it hell. And even at 75psi on a small tire I thought it would blow up sometimes. It is good times though! :)

Usually when I give it hell I end up with a broken knee cap and a swollen testicle but the adrenalin rush is worth it.

Haha thanks Shaun. I appreciate the honesty.

Personally, I was kinda excited to try out all the ideas. Better to avoid the youtube videos of myself tho 8)
