Looking for information on road surfaces from Colorado Springs to HPR. Maps seem to show paved road from US 24 near Falcon through Elbert to Kiowa, and then a mix of paved and unpaved from Kiowa up to I-70 near Bennett, Strasburg, or Byers. Has anyone driven any of this lately, and know how good these roads are and how much is unpaved? :?:

Last I drove Kiowa-Bennett road, there was a section about 5 miles long between Kiowa and the Arapahoe County Line that was still unpaved. Regrettably, it's the "main" thoroughfare out here...

it's not worth it.

just go up 24 to limon, then west.

get off deer trail exit and head north to 36 then east to the track.

I tried differing variations the past 3 trips to HPR and the route i mentioned is the best for towing a trailer.

Tony & Ben:

Thanks for the info, I suspected that's what was there, but had hopes for better. We came back last time via Ben's route. :)
