Dislocated my knee today..... again, of all things while pushing a bike it at the end of the day.

im pretty sure its just my meniscus(inside tendon of the knee) cuz it popped to the outside of my knee.

I was just curious if any of you have had the same injury and if yall know if it can be repaired by scope sugary and how long i will be out for. Also if anyone knows/recommends a surgeon who is really good at his job.

if it is going to put me out for a while I am going to wait till the end of this season. So if you hear any screaming agony from the youngblood pits, its just me : P

email is Erikcromer@yahoo.com or call me at 720-985-5497

good/bad news is it didnt hurt as bad as the first time it came out. which may mean that it is pretty much completely screwed.

Erik - sorry to hear that.
If you can get to Vail, Steadman is the world's best.
In Denver, I can highly recommend Dr. Eric J. Stahl.
I've been treated by both.

ACLs is kinda what hold your bottom leg bone to you top leg bone. I dunno if club racing would be worth that : P

but ill keep that in mind? : P

Stedman Hawkins also has a big clinic at Belleview and Ulster in DTC, no need to trek into the hills. They took care of my knee when my GSXR fell on it and bent it sideways. Another +1 for those guys, they are absolutely the best.

Just had my meniscus done in February by Dr Charles Gottlob at Panoramic Ortho in Golden. http://denver.citysearch.com/profile/1840436/golden_co/panorama_orthopedics.html He was highly recommended to me and I have nothing but good to say about him! While I was there I saw a race picture of Sheila on the wall too, so you would be at least the 3rd MRA person to have work done by him recently. Anyway, yes, it can generally be scoped. I was walking without crutches the day of my surgery! I was hiking several miles in the mtns without much discomfort after about 2 weeks, probably could have gone sooner but wanted to take it easy. Give them a call ASAP as he is pretty busy and it will likely be a few weeks before they can get you in for surgery, assuming you need it.

When I was shot 3 times in the legs with an AK-47 in 1993 (Once in my right knee behind my knee cap)... I was told I may not walk again, and if so I would have a severe limp... This guy worked magic with my knee and obviously, made all those comments null. He has made miracles happen for my knee.

Best of luck on a speedy recovery. Ive had my knee scoped also and was very surprised at how quickly recovery can happen.. so stay positive !!

Erik, hands down Steadman Hawkins Clinic, they specialize in sports medicine. You don't need to go to the Vail office, go to their office at I-25 and Belleview, that's where I went and it's sick amazing how many athletes are in there rehabbing.

call Stedman Hawkings Denver clinic. i have been a patient for over 15 years. they are the worlds best knee and shoulder specialists. i have referred many from the mra to them with everyone raving about them. they are the Denver Bronco surgeons also the US ski team and many others. any Dr. their will be bad ass and they understand the need to fast recovery. ask for Dr. Boublick and tell him Chris Fuller sent you... he will take good care of you. -C

Just so you all know, Steadman Hawkins has a picture of my husband racing on their walls. Right next to some well know football players. I think it is because he has been going to them since a teenager and probably built their practice singlehandedly with all his visits ;-p heee heee
BTW, Most of the practice doesn't take new patients unless you name drop - so if they give you a hard time, just start rattling off all those that recommend the practice :)
Good luck!

Steadman-Hawkins Denver is a good choice, but Dr. Steadman doesn't ever go there. Boublik and Schlegel are both very good (you can often see Dr. Schlegel tending to injured Broncos during the TV broadcasts). But, if you want the acknowledged best in the world, it's only a short drive to Vail. All the orthopod surgeons at Steadman-Hawkins Denver learned their craft from Steadman. Steadman's got the touch.

Dr. Stahl was a world class ski racer in his day and understands the athlete's point of view toward rehab and recovery. He operates out of the Panorama clinic with Dr. Gottlob. He'd be a good choice, too.

Anyway, get a cortisone shot and tough it out. Having your body fall apart is just part of the aging process, anyway.

Hang in there.

Sounds exactly like what I did to my knee when I was 17! I had it scoped. I don't know any good docs but I can say: do everything doc tells ya for the PT after the surgery! I learned the hard way and almost had to have surgery again! Good Luck!

When I was shot 3 times in the legs with an AK-47 in 1993 ....

Holy shit, Dion!
I haven't heard of too many people who got shot by an AK47 and lived to tell about it - let alone recover to race motorcycles. OK. You win. Your doc is the best.

Congrats on Rookie of the Year.

Sorry to hear about the knee, but +1 on the Rookie of the Year!!!

You totally deserve it (the rookie of the year) and I appreciate all the help you gave me last year, even though I ended up doing supermoto and not roadracing in the long run.

If its any comfort, I tore my ACL last Summer playing soccer, and waited till October to have surgery. You can ride on it, but BE CAREFUL. John Elway played his whole career on a torn acl, but most people arent John Elway...

Anyways, the surgery isnt the problem it's the rehab... So good luck with all that and drop me a line if you want to bitch about any of it or to play Halo 3!!!.

When i went to HPR it wasnt bothering me at all. My wife and I concluded, the suit gives enough support for my knee. So as long as I wear my suit everywhere ..... lol j/k. As long as I am careful I think i can wait till after the season is over.

Erik, Sorry to hear about the knee. I tore my ACL July 4th weekend, went to see Dr Gottlob and we agreed that I could finish out the season before having the knee repaired. He had a brace made for me so I didn't injure it worse. He did a great job repairing it and I am now racing without my knee brace (don't tell him that if you go see him though) lol. I highly recommend him.
