View Full Version : YOU CAN HELP!!!

Due to the price of gas, many of our beloved Corner Marshals cannot afford to drive to Hastings. These folks are the die-hards that you want on your side if the "fit hits the shan!" We have started a thread to try and get some carpooling established but there are some issues getting schedules to work for everyone involved. I request from you racers and your crews to post any available seats you'd be willing to offer a Corner Marshal in need! In the years past, many of you have donated a wide variety of merchandise and services as a show of your gratitude during the Corner Marshal Appreciation Day. Offering to give a CM a ride would be very much appreciated! You're going anyways and you would be helping the Club as well!

What I hope to see is:

Your name (include your rider number, as many of the CM's only know that!)

When you plan to leave/return

And a contact method (number, PM, e-mail...)

Thank You in advance!

No room in the truck, but I'll donate $40 for a "gas kitty" which you could distribute among those who make the drive.

Who else will throw down some ching?

Come on people!! We need to get OUR cornerworkers out to Hastings! Dingle is helping out and he's not even going.... (we will miss you Dingle) I challenge you all to help out with gas money OR by taking a cornerworker with you.

The money they make is NOT even enough to cover their cost....... THEY don't want to PAY out of their pocket so we can race!

Maybe I should take a collection up at tech............ If you donate - you pass.... if you don't well then maybe YOU will be standing out in the Oats picking up bikes.

This is really cool to see!
Thanks to those of you who have offered to throw in for gas money and rides. It's much appreciated.

Tom (#416) and I are both working corners Saturday and Sunday in Hastings, and will be driving from Denver/Stapleton after work on Friday. We've already offered Shane a ride, but if there's another corner worker who might need a lift let us know!

Tom will be grateful for the gas money too-- his SUV gets very thirsty. I keep telling him we should drive my Beetle convertible but it doesn't seem to appeal to the racer in him! Ha. See you all out there!

I'll pitch in $40.00.

I won't know if I have an empty seat in the truck until sometime closer to the race date.

I'll be leaving Saturday afternoon or evening, driving back on Sunday after the race, if I have help driving.

I will most likely have room for 2 corner workers if they want a ride out. I will know more by Monday.

I am leaving Friday afternoon....hoping by 3pm.
Returning on Sunday after last race as soon as I can get out of there....have to fly to Vegas that night or early Monday morning so want to get back.

I will be leaving from Milliken.....can meet people out at Ft. Morgan (this is where I get on I-76 from Hwy 34) or people can meet at the "farm".

Stay tuned.

Just talked to Dirk #211(my ride to hastings) and we have room for 1 corner worker. We will be leaving around 0530-6AM on Friday and coming back on Sunday after the races. Any corner worker can let us know they need a ride, we will be leaving from boulder off Arapahoe. If someone lives near Westminster, I can pick them up as well on the way to Dirks.

I'll be leaving Friday afternoon from Boulder and returning as early as possible after racing in Sunday.

Crash, I will compile a list of those who are willing to donate and will track you down at Hastings to collect, then on Sunday we will disperse the money to the corner workers who are car pooling out.

Thanks!

Hey Kip,
Could you tell Vinny to stop by my pit and give me some more pointers on how to ride. He stopped by after Pueblo and pointed out that he saw some ways I could go faster and I'm dying to hear more! I only got into the 30's at Hastings last time with his help I think I'll be in the 28's which is where I need to be. Maybe if he could follow me would be great?? I'm going to try and cram everything into the Sprinter but otherwise tell him just to stop by my Trailer OK? Thanks and see you in NE! Jon

We're up to $520 by my count! Keep it coming! Hell, if we collect more than we "need" to actually cover the gas costs - maybe they'll get a decent meal along the way too?!? Wouldn't that be cool for a change?

I'm not going to Hastings, but I am in for $40. If we go to the meeting tonight I'll get it to someone there. Rybo and I just drove a 43' trailer to Miller and back buying diesel all the while, you don't even want to know what that cost -- that said, I know what it's gonna be to get a dozen workers to Hastings and back, so I'm happy to help you all stay safe.

Thanks to all for the gas help to the corner crew. Getting help for my thirsty SUV was really appreciated. If fuel prices keep going the way they are, next year I'll be dressed in white on I-76 holding a Hastings sign. Give me a lift...

Someone else posted about a double-header for all Hastings weekends to make it more worth the haul. +1.

It made such a difference to have the gas money-- thanks so much to all who contributed. I hope the kisses I blew, enthusiastic cheers I gave, and bikes I helped to call in and clear up from turn 13 this past weekend made it worth it!

You guys are the best,
Kate

I would also like to thank all who chiped into the cornerworker gas fund. It made a huge difference for those of us who made the trek out there. Thanks again to everybody and see everyone in Pueblo.
