Does anybody have a engine hoist I could borrow?

(Like for a car)

Perhaps a beef come-along

If you have something to hang it from, I have a 1 ton block and tackle chain hoist (manual) that I have used to pull several engines with. I also have a spreader bar for it that makes sure that your load stays nice and level, or what ever angle you should desire.

thanks for the posts. marty if its cool, i'll snag yours next week.

i'm trying to move (and possibly remove) the engine in a boat. if i were to use the block/tackle method, i'd have to leave the bow hanging out of my garage so the hoist seems the most appealing. i need to replace the coupler on the flywheel.

next question: might anybody out there have mercruiser tools? i need the engine alignment dowel and some to get a lower gear unit apart. the delay and the shop flag hours required to do gear work on a lower unit makes me very motivated to do it myself.

finally, who likes to waterskii?
