tried some pilot powers (a little loose imo) haven't tried pirelli's, but i do know the bt-002's stick like glue and they give you a little warning when their gonna start sliding....

well of course a street tire isn't going to stick like it should on the track. hit up brown and get a set of real Michelin track tires. I'm sure you will be more then happy with them. 2CT's are made for street riders. Get the Michelin race tire and you'll see what im talking about. Plus, most the sets Jeff has for sell, have like 1-2 sprint races on them. Very good, as I have purchased several from him over the off season.

you sound like a tire salesman.........lol....whats wrong with battlax's? not too many guys run them from what i've seen......except the pro's that know, like casey stoner.......

And, just to help the Pirelli faithful, I will have new and used DOT and slick Pirellis we can mount up for (or after) the race school if interested.

Some of us have tried most all of the tires available, and they are all very good - they are just all good in different ways. :)

Just ask if you have any questions.

FWIW, the tires you and I can buy are nothing like the tires those guys get to ride on. So while they say "Bridgestone" on them somewhere, that is about as close of a resemblance as it gets. :)

( I am not sure what the World Superbike Pirelli Spec tire is, but I am 95% confident it is not identical to what I ride either. :) )

yeah i know we dont get what they get, and i was just messin with dragos. i know he rides mich.....and although we dont get what they do,the same technology is used to a point...i just really feel confident with battlax's..but i will test some tires on the 22nd....

I'm just saying don't judge a tire maker based on the use of their "street" product. 2CT's are made for street riding and even brand new, wont hold to the track like a race tire. I say try a couple different brands of race takeoffs and see what you like. Not trying to be a tire rep.

I have some Bridgestone slicks in good shape. 120 front, 165 rear - what size do you need?

Mine are 165 rears, so that won't work... the fronts would.

I will be at the class.

i rode battlax's for a while then tried michellin race tires and didnt notice a difference. i felt a little more confident with the michellins but i think thats just because i was actually getting faster and more confident with myself.
any of the manufacturers race tires will work great for you. im a noob (1:44-1:45 lap times at pueblo) and have only run used/take off tires since i started riding on a track last year.
i started off with riding my normal street tires (dunlops, bridgestone) at the track which was fine until i actually started pushing myself.
i will never ever ever ride a street rated tire at the track again. You can tell a huge difference in the profiles and stickyness. Street tires are so low/flat while a track rated tire will have that steeper angle that makes you feel like you can just lay your bike into turns.

i have heard from experienced riders that dunlops give you more feedback before the tire gives out from under you compared to michelins, but im not sure how true that really is. a lot of factors like suspension set up, body position on bike, what you do with the throttle during a turn etc will play into how a tire feels to you.

but im a noob so you really dont have to listen to anything i have to say 8)
