Yep! The MRA rules for '08 require those tank sliders. So get 'em!

does anyone know if the new 2008 R6's have redesigned tanks?

They're slightly changed, but it might not be enough.

if the rule book only says 06 & 07 does that mean the problem is somewhat fixed or the sliders are not available on the 08?

eti fuel cells and traxxion dynamics both make tank sliders for the 08 r6..

Dug these up of Brian's bike....just after I finished my second exstinguisher on it. Brian hope you don't mind me posting these...have had them since that day.

Here is what could happen without the tank protectors.......turn 3 at Pueblo is the location.

I test rode an 08 R6, and from what I could tell, the new tank is not going to be any more safe than the previous design.

I'm just poking fun at a manufacturer but........... it would seem Yamaha's R'6 bikes are not quite in tune as their pianos. Issues surrounding tank design, fuel and fire, should be remedied ASAP. The problem shouldn't be inherent from one model year to the next and the next. If it ain't red, keep it in the shed.
