i saw a few folks in the pits that had a chock in their trailer that held the bike up by the rear axle. was wondering who sells these? and more importantly, how do the folks that have them like them? does the front of the bike bounce around much? do you need to tie down the front of the bike? does it round out your axle? any feedback is welcome
thanks

Marty,

What you saw is a strapless transport stand. You can get them here

http://www.ststands.com/main.cfm

I have one for the ducati and it works great. it's very stable and doesn't require any other kind of tie down. Your bike needs to have a hollow rear axle for it to work. I've had no issues with mine.

The one in my trailer came from Faster motorsports. Contact those guys, they should be able to hook you up as well. I think it is awesome. Saves you a lot of time loading/unloading and is very stable.

Thumbs up for the strapless stands! A little on the pricey side, but makes transporting your bike(s) a lot easier, and you don't need to worry about a cinch strap coming off since the bike is basically secured to the frame of your trailer.

I have the STS's and I'm pretty happy with them

A guy named Troy Green was really helpful with me getting them, so I would recommend STS. And no, you don't need any other straps and stuff like that. Plus you can place them so the bike is real close to other objects - I put mine real close to the wall so I have lots of space for other crap.

But as Clarkie mentioned .. it looks like Pit Bull has stepped up and has a version

and they're supporting MRA racing with a contingency program. Hmmm...

I swear by my STS's... im not worried about leaving the bikes in there, having the pressure on the suspension, plus i drive like a complete dick and they dont move

IMO the best and only way to tie down a bike. I havent seen a pitbull in person, but im sure like everything else they do, I am sure they are awesome... although they are more expensive then the ST stands. Plus the ST stands work with ANY bike, you only need to replace only the little sliding spacer on the rod... its not bike specific.

that is pretty cool! i like how easy that roles in.

pitbull - $279.00
st stand - $249.00

so not a huge difference, basically 6 in one half a dozen in the other.

The pitbull one requires more room in the trailer since it rolls forward into it.

I copied Applehans solid mount stand for my trailer long before the Strapless or the Pitbull existed, and I think he had his for a few years before that...

Either which way, solid mount stands are the only way to go and I have three strapless stands in the trailer and wouldn't go back.

This is a little off topic but deals with pitbull. Pitbull pays year end awards so does a racer have to fill out a pit bull form for each race or do they accept one form and just use the overall results to determine the amount distributed to each top 3 racer? I filled out one for the whole season so I guess my question is, will pit bull pay out to me or since I didn't do one for each race they won't? Does that make sense?

I would like to use the money for this product....

you get one certificate, at the year end from pit bull, and you only need to fill it out once. Its not paid for each time you finish in that position, its paid for where you finish in the year end points.

I love Strapless stands..... They are the best thing ever and well worth the money... Its so simple to use and fast and the bike wont move 1/4 " even if you have Indy car Racer C Weed at the wheel....

The brackets are a bit challenging to mount yourself to the trailer floor but other than that... They ate idiot proof and very well built...

Got mine from Faster....
