Recap -

Of all the organizations I have raced with, this is by far the most organized. You guys have really raised the bar as to how things should be ran in a race organization
We deal with situations as they come up - it is thinking and fixing problems on the fly

Sometimes there is scrambling when things don’t work properly. There sometimes isn’t a process, we are working on getting things developed and organized in the Google Drive

We are our own critics, it is more about what you guys see and the overall race experience.
I saw some shit go down last Round, but everything you guys have been saying about reading the rulebook and checking your own shit is awesome. I saw stuff go down and anyone who has read the rulebook knows that the initial call is good and it is the reactions that are usually garbage and you guys do a great job with de-escalation
Had found out Friday morning that the track day before the race weekend was only $100 - would have been nice if this was advertised beforehand, especially if this is going to be the same next year. Was overall a great thing though that they made it cheaper for our racers

They want us to come back next year, more on this later

Practice structure -

Maybe have A group go out at the top of the hour and B group go out at the end of the hour. Anyone can go out in the middle times, can be self-regulating?

Constructive Criticism -

It’s bad when a question is asked during a rider’s meeting or even during a general meeting and the BoD is looking at one another because no one knows the answer. The optics are bad on this

The Race Director had just been officially nominated in the night before and there was some discussion that was needed on this to make sure that the right answer is given to you all

BoD, Corner Crew, etc each have a notebook where they take notes on everything throughout the weekend and these notes are collected at the end of the weekend. Feedback can be received and changes for the good can be made as well.

The safety crew has always been encouraged to take notes and everything is discussed during the afternoon/evening debrief and these changes are made for future events

Have been on the BoD before and have had discussion about these tribal knowledge things. The forum is where I go for Communication, and Meeting Minutes are behind and the vote was only open for 2 days before the voting had closed.

We wanted to initialize the vote so that way the membership could have the option to choose to not vote if they so desired.
Has become a trend of untimely communification notifications
To be fair, when I had sent in a request for a refund / credit, it was very quickly that I had received a response as to whether I wanted a refund or a credit

Status Updates:
Chris:

Dunlop Stuff -

Round 2 was on the fly training (have changed tires in the past); it was where we were at with our inventory. It was a little disorganized the Friday before Round 2 and it took some time to get all of that going. I am much better prepared to be the Dunlop guy moving forward for the school and subsequent Rounds
Still have a handful of unpaid swaps and flips, if this is you, you will see the debts appear in your MSR account. You will have to pay this as you sign up for races
Thank you Nyles and Melissa for helping with tires Round 2

Connex - we are putting a Connex at Pueblo that way there is less expense with having to hire a trucking company to haul equipment around. This is much more feasible than having someone move all the equipment around

If we start racing at PPIR, we will have to figure out options on that moving forward. Pueblo to PPIR is much more feasible than HPR to PPIR and back

Volunteering - have talked with the insurance guy recently

Minors helping with Corner Working and novices helping for Novice Hours - we have to be careful with what situations we use volunteers and how.
There are new laws being enacted this year that will prevent Minors from being involved in certain positions during race weekends. We will no longer be able to have anyone under 18 work Corners or jobs that could be considered “hazardous”. They can help with administrative stuff.
This is the same with Novices wanting to earn Novice Hours. Working a corner is not covered under our liability insurance.
We as a BoD have to sit down and reconsider what Novice Hours are since these changes. If we do not have a 1099 on you, then you are not covered under Workman’s Comp and liability does not extend that far

Erik Maxwell spent some of his own time getting the box truck up and running. The information we were given in the past was faulty and Erik was able to get the box truck running.

This is not to say that there is some maintenance that will need to be performed to get the box truck back into working condition. Will take some time, effort, and money to get the truck into tip top shape for driving across the state.

Race school and track day this weekend! Dan will cover more. This weekend at Pueblo is a free weekend for the MRA due to the scheduling issues that happened during the pre-season

Full day track day is $110 and it is a great time to get some testing and tuning done. Get to know the track!

How would you guys feel about doing an 8 round season?

Would happen ideally during the same time frame; there is a lot of time in August and September
Would be nice as long as there is a good mix of PMP, PPIR, and HPR.
PPIR wants us to come back and has spent time fixing the track (potholes, walls, etc). They have tried to accommodate us on everything we have asked for and are willing to move the walls closer to their originally positions when the AMA raced there
Offhand conversation on repaving certain corners, but they have said that they will not be repaving the entire track
Bob, Dan, and Chris had spent some time testing new configurations of PPIR after Round 2. We feel that there are some safety concerns with using the bus stop turn.
This question will be posed again later in the season and will eventually be put to an official vote

Bob:

There is still potential for using the MRA truck for transportation because there is still another Round (Round 5) where transportation will be needed
We have been missing an equipment manager for over a year now. We did not have an actual equipment manager last year and do not have one going into this year either.

We will have to re-evaluate the pay structure as a board because the equipment manager position is underpaid

Contingency has been filed for Round 2. It will need to be updated on the website, the website is currently outdated on this.

Terri:

5k - the 5k event is live and quite a few of you have already registered. Keep an ear out for the configuration; that will be laid out closer to time

BYOB! You do not have to take it seriously, but we will have transponders that you can rent if you are interested in what your 5k time is

Novice Hours -

You all are in charge of your Novice Hours. Get a card from any one of the BoD and we will fill out your card
Keep an ear out as to what happens with Novice Hours since they will potentially be changing due to new laws and insurance requirements

Noel:

Membership is $37000 (?)
Up about $2 with both race school
Round 2 up to $10k
Round 3 is in the green!
Everything is in the positive and we are looking really great!
Safety Fund is sitting at about $2900 after the air fence transport payment

Santiago:

I will not be at Round 3. Bob will be the one covering for me so please be kind and courteous.
Come to tech with a clean bike. A dirt bike shows that you do not care about your machine. Show you care!
Go through your gear as well and make sure that your leathers do not have any massive holes in it

Dan:

SuperStreet Round 2 -

Were not sure if it was going to happen or not, but the weather cleared up and we were able to host SS
We have 15 sign ups for the midseason race school. There has been about 1 added per day leading up to the event

12 are already signed up for race licenses
2 had to drop out because their trailer had been stolen from HPR and one was committed to buying a race license:(

A lot of the individuals will be riding on smaller bikes, so let’s see how much our smaller bike classes grow!
Thank you to Colorado Springs Powersports for allowing us to use their venue. It will be held in the GasGas portion of their dealership

The owner is really interested in racing, so go down there and support their business. It is a really impressive shop for what they have

SuperStreet attendance has been less than it has been in previous years

We are not sure why this is, but we are working on developing incentives for bringing new people to SuperStreet

We should market and advertise SuperStreet some more

Sharing SuperStreet with other organizations?

Bob has been in contact with the leader of the Canyon Riders Assn (CRA) as this may be most of where the SuperStreet target audience may be for advertising learning how to ride better and safer
We definitely want to do more social outreach and we want to make sure that we target the right groups.
Making sure we are hitting Cycle Gear Bike Nights and whatnot to advertise the MRA
We are trying to get people out to track trackdays as well to advertise the MRA. We all have day jobs, though, so if you are interested in going to these outreach events, then get into contact with one of the BoD and we can set you up for success
Tiffany went out to Performance Cycle last year and did a Facebook Live event showing some of their inventory and going through the store. These are the kinds of things that will help us develop better relationships with our Sponsors

When you go shopping, take a video of your experience and post it to the Facebook page!

Katie:

Have been working with the safety crew since 2011 and have been with the MRA since 2009.
Am in charge of the Corner Crew and race day operations.
I am learning and will try to not let it affect you all!

Codey:

Have a good plan for sending out MailChimps for the rest of the Rounds to keep them consistent and timely.
Will reach out to Jim to see what we had done in the past for all this

Currently being manually exported out of MSR until we develop a better system

Dennis:

Tech will continue to be in Bob and Santiago’s pit area (tech is in the same spot)
Dennis and Bob will have re-tech stickers throughout the weekend. Everything will be unchanged and we will be making sure that everything stays consistent
Check your air filters! Be diligent about your maintenance to make sure that your bike stays good

Use water repellent / oil to grease bearings, seals, etc to get water and keep water out of your bike.
Belly pans - some people have holes in their belly pans to drain water, but they need to be sealed for race weekends to prevent oil from leaking onto the track

Make sure that you have already gone through your bike and have filled out the pre-tech checklist

Some people come to tech with an empty checklist or have it all filled out, even things that are not applicable to their bike
For people who disagree or do not like it, it isn’t a great attitude to have when it concerns the safety of our sport
Run your hands over your bike to find loose bolts, nuts, cracked components, etc.

PPIR was a great time and many people were thinking the same thing. It was a good turnout despite the forecast and it was cool to see how it shook everything up. It was RAD

Blair:

Bunch of sponsor checks came in tonight!
Getting final sponsors squared away, if you know anyone who is interested in sponsoring please let me know!

Bob is currently working on getting Cycle Gear as a sponsor again this year

Erik:

Was at Fay Myers Bike night during Round 2 weekend -

Wasn’t as great a turnout as they were expecting, but they still had stunt bikes out and we still managed to get some contact information out there

Thank you to Dan and those who helped with the Cycle Gear Bike Night this week
If you have an availability, let me know and I will give you handouts to give away at these events
Posters are currently in print and will be available for purchase on MSR and in the race day office. They are being sold for $5 and all proceeds are going into the safety fund to keep racing safer for everyone

If we sell out, we can always print more!
Maybe add the older tracks in there as well, Second Creek, Aspen, etc

Add in ghost images of the older tracks and those who know what tracks we raced at get with Erik so he can get the outlines developed and added to the poster for the second running

Member Questions:

What is it going to take to get PPIR to keep the gate open later?

The person we worked with last year had done it for multiple years and knew the parameters we had set. There was a new guy this year that didn’t know the ins and outs of everything. We are a unique event for them, and Nick (the new guy) assumed that we ran things the same way that other organizations do.
In future years, we will make sure that it is set out in writing that the gates are open to a certain time to avoid confusion in subsequent years

Who is the point of contact for asking for help?

Any one of the BoD is a great place to start. We will look into getting a list of things we need help with into the WYNTK email. Check for this and this will be a great place to start when searching for things to help with

Is there contingency information on the website?

Has not been updated since 2021. Josh says no.

Is Dunlop in the positive as well?

Due to the fact we had to preorder tires, it looks like we we are “in the negative”, but every tire we sell put us in the positive

How much did it cost to move air fence?

Around $2200 - CJ helped us load air fence and this was originally for the trip to and from HPR, but this will be changing because the air fence is going to PMP

What did the new air fence cost?

We received some of the last 12 sections and we paid for shipment from New Mexico, which was about $3000.
RRW Action Fund had put air fence toward another organization because they had lost most of their air fence, and we received what was leftover

What was participation from this year to last year?

We had 89 this year and somewhere around 94 last year. The people who dropped their classes are not included in the 89

People catching oil spills (bike went around the track multiple times?)?

There were not any major issues with this last Round except for a bike had blown during ROR.

The racer had seen the corner worker’s back to him, so he had assumed that it was not for him (they were still looking for the bike).
We will discuss being a little bit more responsive and better with this in future rounds

When do the new racers get added into the MailChimp stuff?

Bob had taken an export after Round 1 to get the new licensees into the MailChimp list.
Bob will be taking another export after the second Race School to add the new racers into the list

How many classes are currently unsponsored?

The list on the website is updated or email Blair with any questions

What is the next event?

Cycle Gear Bike Night happens next on July 11th. Sponsors arent great at getting in touch with us with what events they are having so we can go out and support them
Trying to figure out how to fix this to make sure we can support our sponsors as well

Is Cycle Gear store to store or is it corporate?

It is a corporate thing.

Does this include RevZilla since it is a sister company to Cycle Gear?

Maybe not since sponsorship goes to the regional manager?
Get me some handouts and I will stop in some stores in the Lakewood area
