Chris:
We need to have relationships with those who support our Club. They need to support us, but we need to support our sponsors too
Performance Cycle is one of our biggest sponsors, and they have a massive building with lots of apparel. Send people there before you send people elsewhere
Bob:
NATC - they will not be racing with us round 1, but may be racing with us later in the season as their round 6 is open
All race days will be going live so you can pay for the entire season in advance if this is something you want to do
Price increase for race entries - there was a $5 surcharge for the safety team last year; it is going to stay the same this year as it is easier to bookkeep
In pits inspection - we are developing a charge where Santiago can come to your pit AFTER THE RIDERS MEETING ON SATURDAY and inspect your bike in your pit
Still make sure that you are ready - do not lose your focus
Terri:
Novice Hour cards - you can take a picture of them , fax them, whatever, if you lose it but have evidence you have completed your hours, we will take it.
HOWEVER - if you lose your card and have no evidence, you are SOL.
Currently working on getting apparel situated with Tait - shirts, patches, etc so keep an eye out for all that coming soon.
Keep in mind that it is the 50th anniversary, so buy something!
Let me know if there is anything you guys want that I can relay to Tait
Noel:
Getting insurance and track deposits paid
Getting some money in for competition licenses
Couple spots still open for the race school - get people out here!
The reserve fund is still great in case we need it
Early bird pricing ends February 15th!
Santiago:
Read the rulebook now since it has been published online
First couple of rounds will have belly pan inspections - be prepared for this! Either bring your belly pan with, or pay for an in-pit inspection
Any questions, get in touch with me!
Helmet inspections will be done initially according to the rulebook - this year, helmets will be inspected to make sure that they are not old and they are within the 5 year age range and are within regulatory compliance
Dan:
Fay Myers for the race school in April! Working on getting it secured
13 spots still open for the race school - will open it up potentially, but new riders will get first come first serve
Working on a test for everyone taking the school - will be finalized within the next week or school
Procedures will be gone over with the coaches at some point as that is developed
See Mike Applehans for Advanced Rider Coaching for all your coaching needs
John:
We are always looking for new people to join the safety team
mra-racing.org/safetyteam
Get them in contact with John - see the website for contact information
Helicopter insurance - get it before the season starts
mra-racing.org/helicopter
Will be getting a meeting put together to get the safety team in one room at Fay Myers for a meet and greet/classroom
If you guys need the logo for artwork or leather or anything like that, get into contact with John or Erik so we can get the logos to you
Will be meeting with HPR to go over the new radio call system before the season starts
We will be doing it how the car races do it, by using a”Control” system
Jim Brewer (MRA representative for CAMA) - we will be getting more updates from them as to the state of affairs of HPR and CAMA itself
We may buy a used shipping container to store at Pueblo since this is where we need most of our Air Fences (HPR / PPIR)
The Board is very committed to making sure the Club is successful, there is a lot of background stuff going on that the Board is working on
Equipment is getting better, but there is still a ways to go
Volunteer to run a Corner, it is a really great way to learn how slow you are
Tim:
Karaoke, drinking, and cornhole are the only things I can think of (and the 5K)
There will be some sort of calendar coming out to show when these events are happening
Dennis:
Getting the schedules finalized for individual race days and they will be posted as the events start drawing near
Praise to the Board! They are doing a good job even though sometimes this job is a mixed bag
Rulebook advertising is due at the end of the month to make the printed copy of the rulebook
mra-racing.org/advertising for rulebook advertising
Prepping details with Santiago to make sure the tech line stays moving this year
The new kawasaki 450 is not eligible for 400 classes due to the rules outlined in the rulebook
It will fit into some other classes though, read the rulebook!
Superbike 500 class; adding supermotos - supermotos are lighter and make more horsepower, so it would have affected the parity of the class
Blair:
Working on getting first right of refusal from last year’s sponsors. After this is done, a list of classes will be put together that still need sponsors
If you are interested, please let Blair know so he can put you in line for class sponsorships
Working on getting some things done for the 50th Anniversary stuff
There are now only 2 businesses that are due for sponsorships! One has paid their dues
mra-racing.org/sponsorship (check the website for sponsorship details)
Erik:
Did theMotorcycle Expo a couple weeks ago and want to extend thanks to those that showed up and helped man the event!
There was some trouble between biker gangs (???) and if the coordinators do not do anything about it, we may not go back next year
If anyone that was there is a Novice and did not have their Novice hours signed off, get with Erik so cards can be made up and you can get credit for your hours
Been going through some marketing things to try and hone in what the MRA is and who we are trying to reach
How do we market to new people? To younger people? etc
Pick up your Novice Hours cards! Board members will have some, if you want one talk to a Board Member
Fill out the cards completely as well
Will be working on pumping up the YouTube channel so we can expand the outreach there
mra_racing on Youtube! Go look us up
Member Questions:
Why is the NATC not racing with us this year?
They loved the event, the facility, etc. We have not, however, gotten a reason as to why they are not racing with us this year. Budget has been a concern, however.
Are we saying that gear is not good, or are we saying that is good?
It will be whether the gear is good or bad…
Will gear be inspected after crashes?
Yes, they absolutely should be to make sure that the gear has not been compromised
Anything that is subjective, we should absolutely avoid it for liability reasons
2023 Rulebook Section 8.9 to see requirements for apparel inspection
See Section 8.10.E for more information
See Section 9.6.E for more information
Advanced Rider Coaching - $10 sticker, first name that is called during a rider’s meeting that has bought stickers gets a coaching or GoPro session from Mike (all proceeds go to the Safety Fund)
