Important Announcements:

Round 3 -

Had a lot of red flags. We cannot do a lot about people crashing, but we can control how we respond. We did a really good job responding (quick response times).

Almost every red flag we have had so far this year has been due to rider collisions. There is a way to race closely and aggressively without causing problems. Will be bringing up in the rider’s meeting

We are club racers. We have a job we need to go to on Monday morning.

You can’t win a championship in one lap, but you can certainly lose it

Need to improve on radio calls, we have a lot of new people helping out

Still working on the Safety Team aspect. Has been challenging in a lot of ways, but the changes (pay raise, etc) will come around eventually. It just needs time

Thank you all for being here and for attending!

Status Updates:
Chris:

Did Announcing Round 3 - have a new appreciation for those who have done this in the past. It takes a lot to fill all that dead air time

Had mid-season race school this past weekend. Was an experimental thing we did this year to see how a mid-season race school would do. We had to cut off race school applicants this year because we didn’t have enough instructors. We could have had more people, but we didn’t have enough instructors

27 students and 10 of them licensed up

Track day participation was minimal, was expecting more people to show up in preparation for Round 3

It was also a little last minute that we announced the track day portion

Thank you to all the instructors that helped with the school. We know that it is a lot of wear and tear

This is our club, if we want more people to come in and race with us, we need to invite them in. This may mean sacrificing time, money, tires, etc to bring new people in. It takes everyone in the club

We did this with a skeleton crew as well, so kudos to everyone who showed up

Round 4 is coming up. Pretty sure we are going to run it pretty identical to last year. The flow was nice and we would like to do that this year (because we stuck to the rulebook).

Read the rulebook, this is a special event and there are different rules than normal

Will be hitting people with the laser to see how quickly they are going. There will be hot pit stewards enforcing the rulebook

Going to do the lunchtime rider’s meeting on Saturday for the 4 hour, similar to last year

Bob:

Being on the BoD is a lot more work than I thought it was going to be. We are trying to do a lot of good things but it is a process.

Race licenses and pit passes for the students who licensed up and straggler licensees next Round

Still working on contingency, had some technical issues with an Orbits export

The people who are coming from out of state will have their late fees refunded

There are currently 98 people registered for this next round

Have on person I am talking with and he is bringing a team, but they have not purchased licenses as of yet

If you are a Novice, tell Tiffany and she will log your Novice Hours. If you are attending via Zoom send Bob a message and I will log your half hour for attending the meeting

Tiffany:

ROR and PA payouts have been made. Tried to get it done pretty quickly. I made an error and forgot to check which account to pay the payout to. If you have a concern, please let me know because i do not get notified when payments do not get made

Round 3 - $67.46 loss. It depends on when the deposits cycle so that is a constantly changing number

Mid-Season Race School - $3176.04 loss

Bob added a safety fund donation option into MSR. We have raised almost as much money as we have spent on safety equipment so far (within $100)

We pay Corner workers by the day and not the hours, so in the past we have had someone move around with a bucket accepting donations. We can no longer do paypal donations, so please bring cash or do it through your MSR donations

There will be a BBQ at the 4 Hour endurance and there is going to be a 5k Round 6 to continue to raise money for the air fence and other safety equipment

Potentially have a relay using the transponders for the 5k

Planning on getting shirts made for that and will have medals for the people who finish until we run out

In MSR, it is called the “Weekend Appreciation Donation”. If you have already registered for Round 4, you can go back into MSR and change your donation amount and it will charge you the difference.

I am not planning on rerunning for this position at the end of my term, please get with me and let me know if you or someone you know is interested

Jared:

Make sure you guys prep your bikes and check everything well. Re-tech your bike yourself and go through the checklist. Check your safety wires, that they are still connected and tied the right way

The Novices are keeping better bikes than the experts are still

If you have the pace to pass, you will know in a half lap. There is no need to pass super aggressively and potentially cause incidents (stuffing someone). Leave it for later, it is not worth it for a cheap medal when you have to go to work on Monday

Jeff:

Mid-season race school was an experiment and we were short on instructors. Lots of late entries had come in. The cost going into the school we knew, so we needed x amount of students to break even.

We had decided to split the day between the school and open lapping in an attempt to break even

All of a sudden on Friday we were at 27 students and we were suddenly short instructors. We closed registration and now had to consider breaking up into sessions, etc because of how quickly things had changed

We didn’t have as many track day signups as we had intended either

The goal is to get people licensed up, and from there they are now going to participate in race weekends. This is why it is difficult to say if the race school is a “loss” because these new people are not going to be participating in race weekends

We had 9 students sign up for licenses out of 26 attendees

If you didn’t sign up for the track day, boy did you miss out. There were not many people out on track during the lapping day session

Thank you to Fay Myers again for letting us use their classroom past their working hours and for showing that trust in the Club

Only 1 SuperStreeter licensed up so far this year

John:

Thank you to Dustin Pfiffier for transporting air fence back from PPIR with his own personal truck and trailer

Thank you to Tiffany and Roberta for helping with Corner Worker lunches

Round 3 -

Had red flags and it was touch and go in the morning. One person crashed and another person ran over his bike.

People were riding aggressively and it eventually ended in a crash with an unconscious rider. A helicopter had to be called.

AirMedCare was out the day before advertising their insurance.

Difficult to rebuild corner worker staff. The crew is hurting and we need new blood. If you know someone, send them our way

Lunch is provided, the days are long

There is going to be a potluck Saturday night. Bring a dish for that.

Pretty much all our safety equipment is in disrepair. The dirt bikes need to be fixed, waiting until the season ends to attempt to fix the air fence.

Received a test shirt for the safety team, Tait from 64*R made a shirt for us. If you work more than 5 rounds, you get a bonus Round 7 and an official safety team tshirt to be presented during the riders meeting

Part of the plan is to bring the crew into the membership and into the club; giving them a sense of ownership. This is part of the reason for the shirt so they can have more of an identity. It helps them stand out and makes them identifiable.

We added a per weekend bonus onto MSR as well that way they can feel more appreciated. We are still not at the point where we can pay them what they should be paid however

Want people to come back, trying to give more incentives so they continue to come out year after year and build a core group of people on the team

Changing the vernacular because we are changing the culture

Looking to find someone who can take over the crash cart as I have been doing it the past few rounds.

Nate:

Read the rules, there are some rules not usual specific for the 4 hour endurance

The lapping day could have been better, but it was experimental and we can change it from here.

Will have some turnover, if you like numbers consider throwing in your hat for treasurer. Elections will be at the end of the year, nominate and participate.

Rule change will come around at the end of the year as well, participate in this as well

There is going to be a dunk tank round 5. Dunk a Board Member and all proceeds are going to go toward the safety fund.

$5 for 3 balls. Dunk whatever BoD you want. We think it is going to be super fun, Nami has already bought special swim trunks for the event

Trackside potluck

Dennis:

Read the rulebook, especially section 15

Pay attention to the pit speed and procedure for fueling and changing riders and transponders.

Do not want to lose time by being assessed a penalty

Having a fire extinguisher ready to go at hot pit wall

Speakers will be aimed down hot pit that way it can be announced when bikes are coming into hot pit, it is automatic

Another BoD can be a pit steward this way and can help regulate what is going on in hot pit

Get a plan figured out, get a pit crew person who can give signals when it is time to come in or other important information

Make a sign when you want the rider to come in so that way it is easy to read from on the track

You have to cross on one of the crosswalks, will be making sure that the crosswalks are hard to miss (see new yellow paint)

Had a struggle with this a little bit last year, will be enforcing

Transponders are usually something that gets missed. For Pony Express, make sure that all the bikes have a compatible transponder bracket attached to their bikes, as per the rulebook

Blair:

Still had some people who picked up the wrong trophies. Pick up the right trophies by checking them first please

Erik:

Thank you to everyone who participated in the corn hole tournament. Had fun with the podium celebration.

Thank you to Louden for providing the keg

Round 4 - potluck dinner. Smoked up a pork butt this afternoon, rotisserie chickens, cheesecakes, several other things.

Facebook post has been updated with what people are bringing. The idea is to have enough for everyone to eat

Dunk Tank at PMP

Evan Baker has volunteered to get dunked as well

Round 6 - 5k

Member Questions:

You are provided lunch, I was going to bring brownies both days, what would this look like or is this needed?

That is awesome! Lunches are typically around 10-12 and that would be great, thank you!!

For the Corner Worker Appreciation, will there be a list of things that they want or things that are recommended?

We were hoping to get rid of some of the alcohol and whatnot by having it more monetary, but if you want to bring something, please do.
