Lap timer

I am a new racer and would like to start timing my laps and guess I need a transponder to race also.
Is the lap timer and transponder two different things?

Yes a lap timer and transponder are two different things

Lap timers are available from companies like XT and Aim (plus a ton from china)

The transponder is our internal device used by the club to confirm race day lap times and finishing positions. It is the AMB 260x.
