Here are the rule changes for 2017. There will be some administrative changes not listed below. I am only listing the changes for 2017, not the suggestions. This is only a quick synopsis of what the rule changes will be for 2017. This in no way reflects the actual wording that will be placed in the 2017 rulebook. This is for informational purposes only. This thread was not started to create a debate, but in an effort to keep racers informed. If you want to discuss the reasoning behind the rule changes, please contact me.
1. A brake lever guard will be required on all motorcycles and a shark fin will be recommended
2. Slicks will be allowed in all classes with the exception of production cup.
3. The points will change to: 30, 25, 21, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1……….all riders taking the grid will receive one point if they fall outside the top 20.
4. A completed lap after a red flag will be determined by timing and scoring.
In the event of a red flag the board has the option to restart a race based on original positions.
5. The HPR video equipment is not in place for instant replay. In the rarest of circumstances the board (not the racers or spectators) will make the determination if the camera equipment will be used to review an event.
We are still reviewing the data on a practice schedule doing practices by times. More to follow.
