I just purchased an 08 ninja 250 from a friend in California. I believe its running a bit rich, some friends have told me I need to have it re-jetted, other tell me I simply need to play with the mixture screws. It runs pretty well as it is, but it starts on the first crank with no choke and bogs when given hard throttle which, along with the mile gain in altitude, makes me think the carbs need a little work. Thought I'd get a few opinions here. If you think it does need to re-jetted, I'd also appreciate recommendations on where to have it done.

It will help it greatly if you rejet and shim the needles. It is not hard to do.

Hey Bueller, thanks for the link. I read all about re-jetting it myself and was discouraged by the fact that I do not have access to a dyno and exhaust sniffer. This article in particular made it sound pretty dificult to get it right without the right tools. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_to_fine-tune_your_jetting I'd hate to spend the time and effort jetting it myself and still not have it as good as it could get. What do you think? Not as hard as it sounds?
