December 19th, 2013, 08:11 PM
Here are the rule changes for 2014. This is only a quick synopsis of what the rule changes will be for 2014. This in no way reflects the actual wording that will be placed in the 2014 rulebook. This is for informational purposes only. This thread was not started to create a debate, but in an effort to keep racers informed. If you want to discuss the reasoning behind the rule changes, please contact me or bring your questions to the January board meeting.

Thank you,
Shannon

Rule change summary:

1. Allow aftermarket shock linkage in SS

Will not be allowed. (No change)

2. Allow aftermarket tensioner in SS

Will be allowed (New for 2014)

3. Allow 636 in MWSS

The 636 will be allowed in MWSS - the supersport class displacement will be changed to 640 or 650cc, this change will also take place in MWSB. All other SS requirements to remain in effect. (New for 2014)

4. No race suit accessories

Suit “accessories” will need to be permanently attached to your racing attire and must be made of similar materials. If it is determined said “accessories” are a distraction to the race effort, they will need to be removed (New for 2014).

5. Third call and missing the grid

Procedural vs. rulebook issue, but it will be addressed for 2014 by the MRA board (No rulebook change).

6. Production cup changes

DOT tires (they can be grooved).

Passenger foot peg brackets can be cut from the subframe.

Brake rotors may be replaced with aftermarket products of OEM material, steel, or iron but must have the same outside diameter as the OEM part. Brake lines and pads may be of any origin.

Spools can be welded to the rear swingarm.

Unlimited modifications to the rear shock as long as you retain the stock shock body.
(all aforementioned new for 2014)

All other changes were disapproved.

8. 850cc twins in STGTU

not allowed
(no change)

9. Multicolored checkered flags on the cool down lap

Multiple flags can be displayed on the cool down lap - no red or black flags.

(no rulebook change)

10. Formula 40 GTU and GTO plus ROR eligibility

Split to U and O. Unlimited rider participation based on RORU RORO rules.
(New for 2014)
They will grid separately, but race at the same time.

11. Add Ducati 899 to thunderbike

Allowed with a supersport motor package.
(New for 2014)

13. Split RORO and RORU

No change for 2014. The two classes will be heavily promoted and recognized as two separate events. With a quality turn out and efforts to find a series sponsor, we will look to possibly splitting the classes in 2015 under the right circumstances.

14. Novice hour requirements

No change.
(The deadline for novice hours will be clearly defined in the rulebook.)

15. Lap time requirements for ROR

No change

16. Eliminate meatball flag

No change

17. Quiet hours

No change
