So spoke with State Farm and they won't cover my race bike at all (not even under renters insurance) so wondering who here can refer me a good company that will cover my bike for theft, and also a company that would cover me personally as far as injuries and what not, thank you!!!

Contact former MRA-racer Mike Vigil regarding your health insurance. He's helped a lot of other racers out with their health plans.

You're going to find a hard time getting a racebike covered for theft unless it's registered.

I am doing significant research on this topic now and will be posting an FAQ about securing /insuring your stuff in the near future.

FYI - State Farm WILL cover your race bike in case of theft. Not if you crash. I had State Farm insure my race bike to cover it if it got stolen or fell off the trailer.

You won't find any insurance company to cover a race bike if you crash.

State Farm, Kaiser, etc. all offer "catastrphic" insurance as well at a reasonable price. GO BIG OR GO HOME :)

country financial also covers my race bike for theft or damage if it is damaged while in the insured trailer or my insured garage. they can do it without a title, just a vin is required.

as far as medical coverage, ask your health insurance agent specifically if there are exclusions for coverage for amateur motorsports. if there is not exclusion for that, you should be covered if you get hurt during a race. but many health and life insurance policies have specific exclusions for high risk activities and amateur motorsports is often listed as an exclusion along with sky diving, hang gliding, even scuba diving sometimes. get a written copy of those exclusions to make sure. i am looking for new insurance myself as my company is dropping health coverage as of march of next year, so post up any info here if you find a company that does not have those exclusions.

I have an Anthem / BCBS personal health insurance policy that has served me well. The price is reasonable and the coverage has been good. I've been to the ER and various other docs and the insurance was never the issue (I can go on a long rant about some of the "specialist" doctors I've seen).

Also, it's been very helpful developing a relationship with my general practitioner/PCP. My doc generally laughs when I come in as she knows it's likely due to two-wheeled injury. Many docs understand the insurance process and will work with you. At least that has been my experience.

Really? Cause this lady that I spoke with since my other agent quit (she was kick ass!) told me there's no way the bike is covered or can't be covered by them under any category or way which makes no sense to me if you're telling me this and I'm with State Farm. I made it clear to her that I wanted the bike covered for theft only, I obviously know that the bike won't be covered for wrecks given it's being raced. Who's your agent?

Some insurance companies consider if you pay a gate or entry fee for a timed event (laps counted), it is a "professional event". Some of them have been known to change their policies (just the fine print) and don't let you know. So don't just assume because it is amateur they classify it they sane way

Hi Vlad,

Give me a call. I own an insurance brokerage and we have multiple carriers that will cover race bikes for theft and for damage (i don't recommend ).
